probably not considered a [hot rod] movie as such, but for me it was around 1977 and was "aloha bobby and rose", it had this killer 68 camaro, me and a couple of mates at the drivein on our bikes, summers night on the gold coast in oz aahh the memories, inspirered me enough to buy one at the time... ooyeah they were the days...........

I have 4 that come to mind, all for different reasons

Hot Rods to Hell: First real exposure to hot rods as a little boy
    [IMG]

American Graffiti: I was 18 and we were hanging out at Fremont drag strip and dragging main. It was like seeing your roots.

Bullet: 13 year old male, need I say more.Steve Mcqueen was the real deal,
    [IMG]

Aloha Bobby and Rose: Hot Rods and pretty girls.

Yeah, California Kid did it for me, as well as Christine.

I kept expecting to hear the song "Little bitty pretty one" from that movie during the unveiling of the '57 Plymouth here in Tulsa.

I was in Jr. High School in Paramount, Ca. about 1956 when I saw "Rebel Without A Cause" for the first time, it would have to be my favorite.
I think the best scene in "Christine" was when they center punched that Camero into the gas station.

I like that one that has the squirrel with the GIGANTIC gonads! That one is hilarious!
While were discussing things- does any one like rat rods? I think they might catch on.
Has this topic come up in the past? I'm not sure if favorite car movies have been discussed before? Maybe I'll try that search function! ;)

    what about Cobra with Stallone.
My first car movie was "American Graffiti"
The original "Gone in 60 sceonds" the new has alot more cars in it.

A funny quote one of my favorites is Belushi:
"It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant; it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say — is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"

    Thunder Road

Mad Max has some wickedly cool cars

I've gotta say my favorite "car movie", has got to be The Gumball Rally. Any scene with the Cobra in it and Gary Busey in the yellow Camero on that mountain road just hooking it through the curves is bad ass.

The first car movie I remember making a lasting impression on me was "Thunder Road" about souped up whiskey runners. I had never seen anything so cool in my young life.

"Two-Laned Blacktop" with the awesome 55'. Saw that car cruise Van Nuys Blvd. Also "Vanishing Point" with the white Challenger.
