I found specs posted somewhere for main beaing caps. It said 100 to 140 ft lbs. That is a pretty wide range in my eyes. Is it 100 foot pounds for 1 thru 4 and 140 for the #5 rear main with the thrust bearing? Any help would be greatly appreciated as the service manual that I have says to refer to the tourque chart, which, is not included. Thanks.

I just looked in a 1967 Motors, but it only goes back to 394s. Also did a quick look on Google but only found the same 100-140 spec on just one site. I can't believe it is not on the net somewhere.

    Where's all the Rocketeers tonight??

The first 4 caps get 100# and the rear gets 140#. Evidently the 2 rear bolts are larger (thicker) than the fronts.

This is the way the Pontiacs are done still! Different torque on the rear main cap only!

    The connecting rods get 40#.
