I've spent the last two years building a 62 Chevy II four door sedan for my wife. It has a re-manufactured 230"six with a Offey intake 390 Holly and stove bolt cast iron header. I'm waiting on getting the drives door from the body shop so I can get it ready for pain interior and paint. I made my own disc brake conversion. I used stock 67 spindles 69 Camaro caliper mounting brackets, and rotors, and calipers from a 75 3/4 to 4x4 truck. Every thing fits and works great. I have a bunch of pics I'll have to sort out and post tonight.
very cool. these things must be perfect for wives i'm doing one and i know a couple other guys that did the same thing. hereS the wifes little beater waiting for paint and we still have to lower it.
I have that same intake, carb and headers on my wagon with a 250. Runs strong. What exhaust are you going to run? ******? Post some pics of the motor, I would love to see how it turns out.
here are some pics of the wifes 62 there are more in our photobucket album too. there is a lot more pics i need to take, hope to get it done for you all soon http://s32.photobucket.com/albums/d40/63deuce100/62 build up/
I got my wife a '63 nova 4 door as well. It had a 350/350 stuffed into it. The gas mileage isn't great but she loves it. If we keep it I'd like to get the disc brake conversion too. Had one on another early chevy and it makes it so much better. We have some kids. Good to see someone elses doin the same thing. I like the 4doors style more than the 2 doors. TP
thanks guys, wow i never knew that these little deuces would be so popular. the wifes car has come along way but still looks like ****!!! hoping to drop the old Saginaw three speed in favor for a Camaro T-5. i stole the rear end out of a 78 El Camino, its got like 2.41 or so, that will make way for set of 3.73 and a posi. I'm going to run 18" gl***pac's out behind the rear bumper, should sound real good. I ave driven the car only a few miles and the addition of the heim jointed strut rods was probably the best modification (beside the disc's) I could have made.
Just curious, what are you doing for throttle linkage? Mine is a makeshift set up using some odd parts at the carb and a modified stock arm at the firewall. I would like to do a better set up and am looking for ideas.
I used a kit from speedway motors called "problem solver" it had everything you need but the bracket that goes om the carb. I used 1/4" brake line clamps because the one that the kit supplied was ****. here is another pic of the side of the car. I have a set of hubcaps for it, just do not have them installed yet. as far as paint goes we are leaning to these two colors and for the top She'd like a bit of pin striping up the hood, down the trunk and along the two tone seam. Some day this car will become a reality.
