How many projects do you have?

I've to got a '49 Ford coupe and a '50 Ford convertible, both are running and licensed, but needs lots of help. The '50 is almost stock and the '49 is well on its way to becoming a kustom.

But between working a lot of hours and having a young family at home, I don't get much time to work on either car. I've recently thought about selling the '50 to get the funds to finish the '49. With some extra funds and only one project, it will likely get done.

How many projects do you guys have and how do you manage?

I've basically parked the '50 for now, but it bugs me every time I open the door that it's not getting anywhere. Any words of wisdom?

Projects are like goldfish, they grow to the size of the bowl...er, garage! I just rented an additional 2000 sqft space so I can finally get enough room to work:
    35 Chevy 5W coupe
    50 Merc coupe
    56 Ford F100 BW
    54 Ford F100
and a couple others in the wings... :~)

  4. I just keep buying new projects with the money I should spend on finishing the first one. I think out of all the cars I have floating around I have about half a dozen projects and maybe one I could actually finish - only because I have three of the same type of car, O/T for this board. But I'm not sure I want to use the Pontiac 455 in that car, if I came across a better 400 than the one I have I'd plop that in there and use the 455 in something else.

Then there's my Chevy, which I would be working on now, except I found a screaming deal on a Hudson, so I have that in the garage trying to find the time to get that up and running...

And parked for future use, unless someone buys it in the meantime, a '40 Buick coupe and a '57 Pontiac... I need to round up an original manual column and a few other pieces to put that last one together..

But Friday I bought a '40 Nash coupe, a rough POS, but it was cheap, it's an 8-cyl car, and it's a coupe... if nothing else there's enough to build a stock car from and part out the original twin-ignition driveline and so on.

    And so it goes -

Not by far as many as I used to. I've only got one ongoing driver project and the Model A now. That's as many as this old peckerhead can keep up with anymore. By necessity I must go for quality these days, not quantity. :D

    I have:
    '23 Dodge 3 window coupe
'25 TT Ford (will be making it a T) - Priority
    '27 T coupe - Priority
'40 Buck coupe - Long term build
    '66 Divco -Long term build
    '49 Crosley

I Also have my shop which is a big project right now. It is a 30x60 pole building. I just had the concrete poured and am now working on figurung what I want for insulation. I also need electrical run to it.

When I an done with that I will start on my garage. It has 3 sections. The first has parking for 3 cars and then storage off to one sode. The next section has parking for bigger things and is one vehicle wide by 2 deep with tons of storage on either side. This part has a second story on it. he third section is 12x30 and this is where I will be putting my darkroom.

After I am done with that building I will start on my barn. It was built in 1882 and dwarfs the other buildings in size.

I also have a large chicken coupe that I plan to move to another area of my property, spin it 180 degrees and raise it 3 feet. Then it is going to be rebuilt to look like an old gas station with 2 bays.

I hope that wasn't too much for you.

with a young family, you have a long way to go before there is light at the end of the tunnel. I would sell the 50 and get the 49 done. You will then have a finished car, and won't have to deal with the frustration of looking at two cars just sitting there. Remember, your family is more important than any car. Good luck.

I took too much time away from my family and spent a bunch on my 55 chev over the course of a year just to make it driveable and the last year driving it when I can and working on interior.I 've got other projects that I'm looking at but I can't justify doing another one right away so for now at least the chev. is it.That way I can consentrate? on finshing it.I'd sell one to finish the other

  17. I,ve got a P.O.S. i use for work,a 66 'stang I keep upgrading and an old "pop" van, that needs more money than my imagination can keep up with.I,m busy.

track t .....off and on for 12 years...
fiat altered .....off and on for 3 years....
62 rambler wagon .....off for 8 years....
hemi tub .....real hot for 9 days....toured with it for a couple shows....off for 6 years....

notice a pattern......family , life , bills , and other cars ...at times not in that order...

current drivers .....61 biscayne and 28 model a coupe.....

i have a bad habit of not selling projects just because i want to guarentee that the car will drive like i intended for it too....with the style i want it to be as well....and because of that a few are still sitting.... brandon:D

Too damn many.. and I keep signing up for more :)

'49 ford. Drivetrain is all done 327 w/4spd and maverick rear.. mechanically completely redone, but needs and exhaust and tags etc.

'53 ford victoria was partially rebuilt, but now needs a lot of help..

'54 Chevy Panel truck, It's my current priority. Needs the drivetrain installed and should be good to go. Still working on making the interior a little more livable.

    This doesn't include my non-HAMB projects.. '70 Corvete LT-1 and '72 Jaguar XKE v-12 4spd roadster.

And of course I'm looking at doing a '50-'51 chevy gasser and just today found a cheap '67 cougar XR7

I keep spending my project money buying/acquiring more projects and unnecessary parts...along with paying for breaking stuff along the way.
-driver...'56 chevy 210 sedan, 4 DOORS! it's all cleaned up and fuel injected and power steered/braked, A/C'd and all that fun stuff. still have the 700r-4 torn apart on the bench.
    -'64 Buick wildcat getting a BBB 455/th400
-'62 chevyII, needs engine, floorpan, suspension, wheels, interior, body work and glass...other than that it's a great car.

was about to buy a bunch of stuff for the 'cat when I stumbled on an 82 XS650...I dig the air cooled Yam twin.
and I found a 78 CB750 for dirt cheap that I NEEED to build a cafe out of.

all that and my diesel work truck is always up for upgrades/repairs.

    2 '32 5w's (one owned for 35 years)
    1 '32 roadster (unassembled Brookville)
1 '32 2dr (currently driving, more fun than the law allows daily- still needs finishing touches)
    1 '26 Roadster (restored stocker)
1 '27 Roadster (future modified project)
    1 '48 F1 Pickup (future shop truck)
    1 '37 2dr sedan (wife's "street rod")
3 antique tractors (one restored- 2 waiting for attention)
I sold the '34 Pickup I had since 1962 and the totally rust free '40 Coupe that was going to be my wife's until she found the'37 2dr she couldn't live without.
