I am thinking I am just going to run these steelies for now. they have brand new tires on them. The fronts are 15x4.5 or 5 stock steel wheels from a 54 chevy car and have 205x70 on them and the back wheels are 15x7 and have 225x75 on them. I have to get one inch spacers though as the ford 8.8 rear is a tad to narrow.

I will probably get some baby moon caps or something.

I have the rear shackles on now too. I wanted to mount the rear to it but the shock mount things i have ordered will not be in till tuesday.

yeah I am trying to stay busy with it a couple hours a night. With work/travel time to work I am out of the house from 4:30am to 3:30pm. Luckily I only work every third weekend so it is not too bad.

This friday after I get home from work we are going to box some more in the front and rear and do a notch in the rear.

I am heading out now to bolt the rear to the leafs and measure how much metal we need for the boxing.

I will keep my eyes open. What all kind of projects are you looking for?

not sure yet. I want something that will fit between the frame rails in the rear though. I will have to read around to see what fits. I do not want to spend 500 bucks for an aftermarket one.

that looks to be a 55-64 chevy rear. 55-64 Chevy cars did indeed have the same rear, and the center section is the same in Vettes of those same years I think.

heh...I am getting pretty good at rolling that damn rear ***embly in and out of the garage every day/night. I can not put it on the side yard as the alley s**** metal crew will take it. I am holding onto it to mount under the longbed frame to get it back to a roller.

It is not a posi. I saw some numbers on it. I just keep forgetting to write them down to bring them back up here to search the numbers.

EDIT...it is hot out and i am hung over. I do not want to go out back and work today but am getting dressed and getting started. I need to get the doors off the cab before my son and his friends show up to help me lift it off the frame.

sorry...I should probably just do one update for the weekend but I get excited that I am rolling along on this frame.

I have the cab off and will be getting the frame cleaned up/de-rusted/painted tonight hopefully. I also need to remove the existing ****** crossmember and brake lines.

heh...my towing experience is limited to when I worked in sub surface pump repair. We would load up as many sanded joints of 30' tubing as we could and tow it back to town at 15 mph (anything over that and the trailer would start acting like a fish tail.)

in hindsight yeah it makes sense that I should have loaded the truck further to the rear. :D

    -W, thanks for the links!

Here is a small update on what I did tonight. I have the frame all black now and in the morning I am going to the store to buy engine mount and ****** mount bolts. I am going to bolt in an old block I have laying around and the ****** I will be using just to see how things line up.

I may buy new rotors/pads/bearings for the front at that time too and knock that out.

Keep the updates coming, I like the way you take pictures along the way. Everytime I finish something I say "I should have taken pictures" and never do.

Exactly what I was going to say,all this ******** about tongue weight etc dont' mean anything when you your trailer starts wandering all over the road and throws you into the drain.
YOU NEED WEIGHT ON THE DRAW BAR ( tow hitch).
if the rear gets squashed with a car on the trailer, you need a harder suspension. Don't tow with a vehicle that is lighter than the combined weight of a trailer and car.
Use a longer wheel base tow vehicle. e.g Ford F150 and larger.

well it was one of those nights where I guess I am not supposed to work on the truck. I wanted to do the front rotors/pads/bearings tonight. however, no one in town stocked enough parts to do both. the best I could do is autozone had enough parts to do one. So I get home and wait till it cools off. I go out to the garage and the inner bearing that they sold me is a ton smaller then the one in the truck already.

So, tommorrow I get to go back and get the correct one IF they have it in stock.

Otherwise I am buying the other rotor from autozone and then going from store to store to get the parts for the other side so I can do both of them wed night.

I get going and then eventually will hit a wall where I am stuck with something I do not know how to do...but right now I am pumped on working on the truck and the parts I need at the moment are fairly cheep.

I do not know if it is the right order or not but my plan is to get the front suspension up to par, get the engine/****** in, get the brake lines ran, get the gas tank/gas line in, get the engine setup and ready.

then I want to do the body work on the cab, mount the cab, get the steering worked out and do the wiring.

then get the front body clip and bed on. I want it drivable before I start on the body work on the outside.

EDIT - I am hoping to have it drivable by the march meets...I said that with the 52 car. Actually I said that for five years. However, this time I am doing most of the work myself. Hopefully I will make it.
