I second that motion! I've got a good running ironhead motor with nowhere to go with it. I'm just gonna wait until I stumble onto something at a swap meet or something. I'd love some inspirational pictures of sporty choppers. Brad
Hey recycler did we hang out at Bakersfield a couple years back?? My memory for names is just crap but I thought it was you who went to Squeek Bells place in my Caddy with us..
Here's little brothers Sporty. Ran high 12's at Long Beach after a modest build-up after he came back from Vietnam. In fact, it was his "drag racer". Then he built a 37 Olds coupe, got it to the almost running stage with a 455 Olds, but sold it to go for the lighter weight Henry J. Which he still has. Anyhow, the Sporty is apart right now and he's sticking a stroker kit in it along with some other changes. Should be 80" plus when he's done.
I had a pic of one that had a white bates seat and mooneyes on the tank. It was more bobber than chopper and cool as hell. I loved that bike but when the last computer crashed it was on the hard drive and now is stuck in the cyberspcae junkyard. That thing was so damn smooth
Hey RATBOY! you've got a good memory! That was me. That was a very fun evening. I haven't been back to Bfield since but I plan on going this fall. Still have the caddy? Brad
This is one of the best looking chopped Sportsters I've seen. These pics are from that greasykulture link above. Some guy named Bill built it...it rocks.
question - my sporty has a narrow glide, what exactly do I need to convert it to a wide glide (using my forks)?
cool, thanks for the info, anyone have any of those parts they want to get rid of, and while I'm at how about an S&S for a '70 with a magneto
Here is the one I'm putting together now. It has a ford spare tire cover rear fender, full moons on the rear wheel, & a tuck & roll seat. The wheels will be apple green. The oil tank will be made with '32 V8 hubcaps.
