I thought this was too interesting to be buried and forgotten in one of my posts.

A new guy, Impala65, from Brazil clued us in on 57-60 Style Ford F100's being built well into the 80's. Here's what he said:

"Here in Brasil this pickups was made how year 1963, look one for sale in São Paulo, value equivalent at U$S 12.000,00, http://www.rs-autosantigos.com.br/sh...he.asp?id=1467 . Until 62 was made here the 56 american. This model in the link was made from 63 until 69 . After 70 until 86 was made the 68 american."

    Check out the grill. Neat!

I guess to everyone else, it just looks like a normal "ugly duckling".

I just find it funny that they produced this body style into the 80's.

You'd think there would be tons of sheet-metal available for these. How much would shipping be from Brazil? :D

Ford used a lot of old 60's dies in Brazil. The Ford Galaxie was another one. Check out this 82 Galaxie that used the 65 body:

I just pooped my pants a little bit.
Where do I get me some of those rear fenders, amigo?

  8. I've got a late 40's GM school bus with rear fenders like that truck.

I never saw fenders like that when I was there but I did see some sweet 50s & 60s iron. I also saw a TON of 2 ton trucks of the Advanced Design era being used to haul stuff around town. The coolest was those big 20" wide white walls on the trucks. Looked really classy. I'll dig for pictures, it's been about 4 years ago or more.

Thats a 77-81 "Argentine" Falcon.., not brazilian.
The falcon was built here from 63 till 91 heavily based ont he 63 american model...., just slight front, rear and interior "restylings" through all those years.

The last couple of years of production were mostly targeted to cabs (taxis).
Everyone prefered to travel on a falcon instead of a renualt 12,
    or a VW 1500 =)

I'd like to see the internals of the South American Y- Block. From what I understand the cylinder heads are unique and have more conventional side by side intake ports. Anyone got pics of those???

I dont know what Ford Brazil produced if they ever produced a V8.

The 292 Y block was made here in argentina for the F-100 Pick-up well into the sixties.., it was code named "Fase I".
Later in the sixties, the engine was modified to accept a new-style cylinder head (very similar to the Windsor cylinder head) and was re-named the "Fase II" (you may google with that). In this form, the 292 Fase II continued into the eighties in the F-100, and in addition, was also used in the Argentine Ford Fairlane (built from 1969 to 1982, and based heavily on American 1968 model).

I'd problably be purchasing a 73 Pickup next week..., it runs its original "Fase II". I'll post some pictures if you want.

I am going to Brasil in Dec/Jan this year. and asd some may know I have decent "contacts" for buying and importing,Brasilaian car stuff.
not to mention I kinda like going on these automotive treasure hunts =)
That being said...if some of you would like me to do some seachin and shoppin for ya let me know Via PM. and we can work on some details.

    Yes, keep the pictures coming!

  17. Here is a picture of my friend Daniel Castro's 52 Ford F-1 pickup in Caleta Olivia Argentina (2000 km south of BA). The picture was pubished in an Argentine Hot Rod magazine. Before the rocks start flying about the size and type of the tires, you got to remember this is in Argentina and you do with what you can get. BTW there are Falcons and Rancheros everywhere.

Yes, many people do their rods with what is available on local shops and what theirs wallet let them do. Anyhow, Daniel could have made a better choice..., really nice truck any way.

Falcons eveywhere...., but all 4 door falcons...., no 2 door was ever made. I just still dont get it...., uh well.

    It's either a 1933 or a 1987. Depending on which country.
