just had my 235 rebuilt, bought a new battery (6v) and everything is where it should be...

so why won't she start? It will try... as in sputter a few times and die. fuel pump works, no kinks in the line... yes the tank is full... any tips?

It isn't just cause the motor is tight, is it? Because it should still start, just run a little tight for a while

Did you check your timing? Sounds like maybe its off far enough to make it hard to run. I would check for spark too, before you get too involved. Travis

Points? Condenser? I agree with Wasko. Check your spark. Mine starts and runs, I've got lots of other issues.

Here's what I would do: Prime the carb through the vent tube, remove valve cover, pull the #1 sparking arcer, place a welding rod or coat hanger into the plug hole as far as it will go, slowly turn the motor over until the intake valve opens, keep turning and let the valve close, keep turning until the piston is at TDC ...you are now in firing postion for #1 cyl........remove the distributor cap and see if the rotor is pointing at the #1 distributor cap tower....it should be very close....if not, loosen the distributor and rotate to line up the rotor with the #1 cyl......you may have to pull the distibutor to make the correction........make note of the rotor turning direction and make sure the cap is wired right (proper firing order)

Watching the #1 intake valve will keep you from setting everything up 180 degrees out of phase.

    good luck!
