The engine is still in the truck and has been covered. It still turns over and I bet would start.
Is this worth anything for future builds? How adaptable would it be? And how about parts?
It's a 41 Type "M" truck, I think it was a tow truck at one time. Dually back axle, every thing's there too.
    thanks

Those old Stude flathead 6's run like a sewing machine. I'd use it if I was building the truck.

It is probably the Commander 6 which is the bigger of the 6's.
The Commander 6 head measures approximately 8 x 24 inches.
These are quite easy to rebuild if needed.
There are some performance parts around for these also.
Edmunds made a finned aluminum head dual intakes were also made.
I have this engine in my 37 Studebaker CE and have been driving it since 2002 and have about 10,000 miles on it since it was rebuilt.
With the 3 speed and overdrive it will do 70 - 75 mph on the highway.

So it might be worth grabbing as a "gotta save it from the crusher" and hanging on to it? If it's really just junk then I don't want to waste my time on it.
    thanks

I'm hoping to cut a deal with him on it and a bunch of other parts tomorrow. I think it will end up on a gl*** T body/ T frame build that will someday get done. But, I never make a solid decision till the cutting/welding and test drive is done....

I think it'd be a good engine to use for that. Good luck on the deal.
