How much **** will you get if you show up with your junk on a trailer or in the back of a truck?

Who really cares what anyone else thinks. Push it, drag it, roll it or drive it, just go.

I have had several friends drag their cars up to this show and unload them out in the (big) parking lot and then grive or push them in.

I will be there with my 13 yr old son. We are driving a primer black 36 convertible with a whilt top. Hope to see you.

  3. I think it has more to do with the "spirit" in which your car was built than the way it gets there. I'd rather see something cool pushed in, than an ugly car that drives in.

  4. I disagree, if your car does not drive, it does not deserve to be there.
It's a car, intended to get you from point A to point B, it's transportation, if it cant fullfill it's function, it's useless, somewhat like Paris Hilton.

  5. Not even a really cool "work in progress"?

  7. I just feel, a work in progress, isn't ready yet. Like you said in the past "What's wrong with finishing a car".
Bring the car when it's ready, or at least make it road worthy and "earn" your way in.

  8. I was thinking about a certain car that showed up at Bob's a couple weeks ago. Or did you not know it was towed and dropped there??

  9. I liked the car, but hated the fact it was not running, sorry Headskratcher.

What ? Useless ? I dunno 'bout that, I guess all the Builders That have been to shows in the past like Jimmy White, Matt Noble, and any one else that has brought "IN PROGRESS" cars should be called and advised there cars are "USELESS".

We have a vendor spot for MILESTONE HOT RODS and my DAUGHTERS '27 "T" ROADSTER PICK UP will be in there UNFINISHED because it MEENS ALOT TO HER, she is 19 and LOVES HOT ROD's.

So to call UNFINISHED HOT RODs useless .... Thats not cool.

  11. I've been accused of being too harsh in the past. So, my original response was a subtle urge for the guy to make sure that thing's really cool if it's gonna be seen on a trailer.

  12. That damn Dreadman is way out of line man!!! I think his head is swelling from his 8 page feature and cover in Rolls and Pleats. He just needs to back off!!!;) ;) ;) :D

  13. Bottom line is, if a car cannot move itself under it's own power, it does not serve it's intended function and therefore is not really an "Auto"mobile.
Show your car when it's a car, at a "car"show and not just a piece of art, that has to be pushed in. I'd rather see Functional art, than disfunctional art.
I'ts just the principal, for me.
    Wait until your ready.
    I hear ya, Groucho.

  14. :D :D :D I know you would not push in that 34 Coupe you have, into the fairgrounds, seeing it at your house is just a different story.

is it because it's a trailered car or because it's not finished yet?
I'm staying home work on my rider instead. maybe that will help you choose.
You can have just as good of time having your buddies go to your place and thrash all day to get a car running.

  17. Like I said. I'd rather see a cool one pushed in, than some tasteless one that drives in. If it's a work in progress, BRING IT. I'd like to see it. Hell, i brought my altered wheelbase, straight axle 51 Ford 2 yrs ago, and someone from the show asked me if it ran. I was caught off guard and asked why. He said if it ran i won something. I still don't know why he thought it didn't run. BUT, thinking it might not run, it was still appreciated

  18. Kinda depends on how much you are willing to take. Now for me, because I don't/won't take any, it pretty much stops there.

How far are you going to tow it?
    Does it run/registered already?

It bugs me to see a running car that is trailered to a car show.
Unless it is a race car or something.
I'm an idiot and guilty of driving a car far with wrong plates and no rear brakes to shows...yeah i'm an idiot.

Towed the new roadster (red dot II) to Back to the Beach with the '40.
It was only 2 miles from my shop.
It was completely dismantled less than 7 hours before the show. completely.
Me and 2 friends thrashed on that thing that night to get it towable.
If its your hometown show I think it is allowable for an unfinished car.

I trailered the same roadster to PASO & Ant. Nats this year.
    Felt like a stooge. BUT...
It wasn't running, and we did everything we could to try to drive it.
We ended up getting it running in PASO, (video below)
but it wouldn't have made it on the freeway either show.
It was the last ANT. NATS so it was worth it too.
    Still hate to admit it.

2 years ago trailered the RPU to the Goodguys show in San Diego
in the rain along with my kids.
(family lives down there) so drove it 20 miles to the show.
It woulda felt normal to drop it off in front of the entrance with a trailer.
Still felt like a stooge though.

Well, if ya had some pics, that might help. (hint, hint, Or maybe I missed them somehow?)

I have to agree with some of the posts that say if it's your hometown show, there is some leeway granted (by some). It sounds like this would be a father daughter kinda thing, how many more times you gonna get to go to this show with her while she's 19?

If the car is a full on race car or unfinished and not yet roadworthy, a trailer makes sense. If it is a registered, street driven car and you feel the need to trailer it from one place in So-Cal to another place in So-Cal, I'd call that lame.

The bottom line is do what you want. What I or anyone else thinks about it shouldn't matter.

Personally, I'll be driving my machine to the show from Long Beach, of course, that's after driving it from Phoenix to Long Beach the previous day.

In-progress Custom or Hot Rod that's not road worthy yet should be allowed. Think about it, you have your peers that will heckle you. But, you have the every day Joe and Jane going to the show that may have never seen a "In-progress" build. I think it's positive to teach these folks on what it takes to build a Hot Rod or Custom. And people who are car folks get to see it and maybe exchange ideas, an opportunity you may never get. Folks that say no are being selfish, but of course then there's the trailer queens and of course that's a SIN, I agree. Drive it!

Whats the harm in that ? It wont be juduged.. just sitting in the booth.

I think some guys just get the *****s in a wad when they start reciving alot of attention

Create a masterpiece of traditional proportions and the world wont care how the thing got there.
They will be in awe over the creativity and detail.
The fact that it was driven or pushed wouldnt even enter most peoples mind.
If I had a vehicle that was put together minutes or hours before a show that was the timed goal... I would and have trailered it for safety and just to make sure I made it.
Let someone tell me its a trailer queen and I would get alttle defensive.

bring it, push it in, who cares what others think. If it makes your daughter happy to do so, then do it. Ask anyone that gives you **** to help out working on it. See how fast they run away.

Years from now, when the car is done, they will likely be the first ones that say, "yeah, I saw that car here when they had to push it in cuz it wasnt done, how cool is that?"
