Thanks to Ryan and Marcie et al. And also Mokanman. This event is becoming large, eh?

Thanks to oldbobsign (Larry) for another one of those cool event stickers! I think they are the greatest. Other than you and Denise, I wonder, at the end of the season, who will have the most complete collection?

We had a great time while in Joplin! It was great to see everyone again. I did much better with names this weekend, but still had to ask several folks again.
There were a bunch of folks there whom I missed also so my mission is to get around more at the next event.

We met our pal Earl Scheib on the road in Kentucky and again in Missouri.
We spent some time with the Texas mob, Lux, Sean, Dave, John, Buzzard and met Monkey. After meeting him, I find it surprising we DIDN’T see him riding the Ghost. HA! I met the Gordons, Breeder, Louverdude, Malcom, talked with Tyler, Enjenjo and Phat rat, and of course our resident travel gnome BobK, had dinner and hung out with Denise and Larry. That's always a treat. We collected some really cool swag from Guiseart.
There were others, of course. We enjoyed everyone’s company.

The Thunderbolts showed their true colors in the way they work and play together. I think they are a model club. They always seem to be having fun and helping whomever they can, whenever it's needed. The "wow factor" of ***embling the drag car in the lot at the Ramada was pretty far out there also. We enjoyed your company y'all!

The cars were kicked up a notch this year with a bunch more compe***ive cars making a showing. Its really exciting hanging in the lot watching everyone arrive and then getting to see them in action at the strip.

Atch did a great job with having the dash signed (which was donated by Shane T) while also tending to a racecar.

The Vagabonds performed in high fashion as always, It was good to see you folks again, especially Tman whom we didn't expect to see.

Did you catch the look on Danyelle's face when that slightly lit mob sang happy birthday to her? Can any one post a picture?

So, all in all we are sad that it's over. We made it home without incident, although I have a gnome to track down. I think my electronic ignition may be taking a dump again and I have either a front wheel bearing issue or a problem with the power steering. In any event, the car is safely in the garage, bugs and all, and I'll clean it up and start to track down the glitches over the weekend. As for now it's rest for all.

Ken, It was great to see you and the smoooth Caddy again and to get a chance to chat with you for a bit. You deserve a pat on the back for the good things you do for others. Way to go, man. Hope to see ya at the Roundup in the spring!

  5. Ken & Vicky, always a pleasure hanging out with you. I hope you find the gremlins in the Caddie and they are minor. The interior looks GREAT (the whole darn car looks great, but I think I might have mentioned that to ya about 347 times over the weekend :D ).

Looking forward to crossing paths again one of these days.

  6. Great to see you guys this year! It was fun just showing up un-announced.

Great to see you again Ken! It is always a pleasure to visit w/ you & Vicki!
Thank you for helping us to build the Thunderbeast. It was fun to wrench it all together & drink beer. Weather/rain be damned!
As great as the Caddys' interior looks,(not a crooked seam, stick or piping anywhere!) I was also struck by the cars' smell! Fresh, clean, new leather!!! It smells better than most of the new Benzos I deal w/ on a daily basis! That Cadillac ****ing rules!

That would be DOC. and I don't forsee that ever changing. It's something small but meaningful that I can give to him....he does so much for the HAMB community.

It was wonderful hanging out with you and Vicki. For me it wouldn't be the HAMB Drags without your company.

The Caddy looked AWESOME. I can't believe how far both of our cars have come since the summer of 2002 when we met in person for the first time with our cars. Sure wished we lived closer so we could hang out more.

It was a pleasure meeting you Ken, ditto what everyone has said about the Caddy. Very sweet ride indeed.

Had so much fun maybe we should do it again next year!

    ken,

it was my pleasure to meet you and vicky. too bad the weekend went by so quickly and i didn't get the chance to hang with you guys more than i did. my loss. there are so many folks i want to see and chat with at the drags but it never works out that i get to as much as i want. maybe i should subscribe to the philosophy that sleep is optional.

    love the caddy.

    anyway, 'til next year...

  15. Screw you guys, I will be there on Wednesday next year! Just wanna soak up the parking lot vibe for an extra day...............

Ken, thanks for this post. Reading your well-written reflections really helps me to preserve the spirit of the event. Hanging out with you and Vicki is always a highlight and thanks so much for dinner - great times! You guys also went out of your way to create a magical moment for Danyelle, the surprised look on her face was simply incredible, she's such a little sweetheart.:)
