I was watching from the bleachers as it unfolded...almost swallowed my gum! It took 1.5 seconds to run through the gamit of emotions as I thought the car was gonna have a great run, then concern as it went left, then fear for the driver as he over corrected and spun around and finally relief as the car came to a safe stop between the guard rails, unharmed....whew! Close one..
    That's racin.

  2. I don't know, I would probably build a period correct wheelie bar (ie:a caster) and run it. Guys in the 60's didn't really get ****ed up from the lack of a 5 point cage, they got ****ed up from clutch explosions and running off the end of tracks and such. Granted I'm not driving it, but I don't think there are too many tracks around that would let him run it that way anyway.

yeah you could make a period looking wheely bar that would work, i suggested the extra bar for saftey + he'll be able to hopefully p*** nhra tech and put more runs on it at any track and not just once or twice a year. I can tell you this my buddy has a 180"wb FED blown/inj wb SBC on alky with a direct drive and he's turning 7.14's at 189 mph...he carries the front to almost the 1/8 mile with a weight bar on it and wheely bars! he said the best thing he ever did was put a carbed sbc and a powerglide in it for a year to just make laps and get used to the car + set it up, before switching it to the current set up. his rail was an old fuel car and it needed alot of tubing replaced because it was too thin and was missing crucial support bars. I don't know if zorbas ghost is an old car or a newer old looking design but I ***ume he had that thing sonic tested and went over the welds for stress cracks (if it was used/abused before??

If that wasn't enough, the Tow rope broke as we were pulling the car down the track. Good thing we had Lil Mike to help us out! Ha Ha Ha

I,ll say it once. The video is killer but in person it looked insane. The HAMB drags were fun this year. If you didn't make it this year definetly don't miss it next year. J

  16. Go fast, turn left is NOT recommended for drag racing!

I near **** my pants watching!

  17. I am almost positive that it is a brand new car, built the way it was done in the 60's. I'm working on my second old fueler, I have a late 60's RCS car in my shop right now (last one was a Jim Davis car). There was a ton of work I had to do on both cars to make them remotely legal (I had to cut them both into quarters to sleeve the rear tubing where they met), and unfortunately they lose a little of their soul when you update 'em. I have period correct cages on 'em, but with the extra front hoop and I still don't love 'em. The Davis car has been on the track with a Hillborn injected small block chevy on alcohol, and is around 180" wheel base. Withought using a two step to leave the line, the car yanks the wheels high in the air. With a MSD two step it leave very good and straight. No wheelie bars though.

There used to be a video around that had all 3 runs with some text narration between them with the donut at the end. I can't find it anywhere.... Any idea where to find it?
I was trying to show my uncle since he's an antique drag racer!! LOL!

Well, then it won't show up on my iPhone then and I couldn't find it on YouTube either, so I thought I'd "lost it"! LOL.
