Help me ID this engine.

    I think 1953 Oldsmobile. Rocket V8? It says Rocket on the valve covers. What CID were these engines if that is what it is? Appreciate the help.

    they had those valve covers in '52 and '53 and they were both 303 cid.

    303 if it's a 53, 324 if it's a 54

    i've googled for Oldsmobile stuff and had my name come up :D

    Sorry for the ignorance but are parts for that motor hard to come by?

    there's a place called Terrill Machine in Texas,that's where i got most of my rebuild parts.
    there's a guy who sells header flanges in the cl***ified section,you can get a cool intake manifold for pretty cheap (more people are talking about building an engine than actually doing so) you can get the Hydro to work pretty damn good sometimes,i thimk you could get a decent running engine/trans for a couple grand in parts,if you spend it in the right places.
