Okay, this is the only true real help I need.....Hopefully one of you know someon in my area of So. Cal. that can help a down on his luck good guy out...I finally got around to changing my trunk lock only to find out that I have to reshape the hole for the lock because the metal is bent,so I headed to the bar.So I'm at the bar drinking my water as usual(They call me "Water" at the bar because I don't drink),when my friend comes up to me and says "Hey man,it's raining outside"...Awwwww f**k...See,I don't have any windshield wipers due to I can't find the one damn little wire connector to replace so I can hook it back up to the plug for the controls, and I still haven't patched the roof(which I was going to go see how much it is for the 18 ga. steel to patch it today) so I got in my car to drive home....Well,I get in my car and drive home trying to see out of the windows...Well,when I pull in to my driveway,I head to the backyard to grab a tarp to cover my window...When I get back I hear a hissing sound, like a tire going flat...So I check my tires,no leaks...I walk around the car and listened for where the sound was coming from, and I realized it was coming from under the hood..So I popo the hood and guess what,my radiator decided it was time to become a giant sprinkler...Now I have a busted radiato and only wenough cash to buy the steel sheet to patch my roof...So my question is,does anyone have a radiator that they can spare for a '72 Cadillac Coupe DeVille??It's important, because I'm my brothers only way home from school 85% of the time..Please let me know...Someone can hopefully spot me a radiator, and in return they get good karma..
I've got a 4-core GM radiator that I used in my '69 Cutlass with a 455. It's for sale here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201227&highlight=olds Check the dimensions. If it looks like it'll work it's yours for the karma. You can pick it up either here in Escondido or my office is up on Wilshire Blvd. in LA. Or maybe somebody can nab it and bring it to you. My schedule is a little too hectic for the next few weeks to make a run to Yuc. or I'd bring it to ya.
Thanks for the offer,but your radiator is bigger...It wouldn't fit...Here's the dimentions for my radiator...28 1/2 X 17 X 2 5/8
I know you're looking for a more permanent fix, but if you need something to get you by, check just about any parts store for "Bars Leak" pellets. NOT THE LIQUID, but the pellet looking things. They come in a pack of 6, and each is about the size of $3 worth of quarters. Just stick'em in the radiator, add water, and run the thing. I have personally used these things to 'temporarily' stop up leaks in radiators that were HUGE. We had an old 1 ton chevy with a 350 in it that had a radiator leak with a diameter that would rival a good pencil anyday. We stuck an entire pack of these pellets (About $3-4) in the radiator and we'd drive it for 3-4 weeks before it'd start to leak again. This stuff works so good I had the intake manifold gasket start to leak on my truck (89 Chevy w/350) and I didn't want to change the gasket 'right now' for just a seeping leak, so I added these pellets to the system. That was 3 months ago. I don't go anywhere without a package of those pellets now - in any of my vehicles.
