...as to the *out of roundness* of their Firestone repop dirt trackers? I bought mine a few years ago but only mounted them recently and now I find that they are out of round! No wonder I had that *t******** at about 55-60 mph.......

I know they say that they are *For Exhibition Purpose Only*.........am I right that since I am driving on them any problem with them is on me?

Have any of you ever reported this problem to Coker, and have they offered any kind of compensation? Am I just *stuck?*

    Thanks guys......Brucie

    Mine are fine.
It is typical for rear bias tires to do that about 55 mph if not properly balanced.

I have never bought anything from "Coker"......but, with the issues that have been posted lately.......they have been from tires that are 3 plus years old.....maybe the had an issue in the begining and are finally getting it together.........just a thought.

Sorry that your tires are not working, but from what I have read and heard via "hotrod guys" Coker will really try to help you out.........Kinda' a pain to mail a tire back and forth, but at least they don't give you the "Vintage Speed" service.........

Oh yea, have you driven them and got them "hot"........I know that Clark had some issues with a flat spot a couple of years ago.

The ones I am referencing are the ribbed fronts on my Deuce.......I have never been over 75 with them but they get that *t******** at around 55-60........a little disconcerting and certainly not desirable....

A good friend who's running them on the front of his roadster had to have them shaved for the same reason......

I am thinking of maybe going for Coker's blackwall radials that have a sort of *bias look*........anybody running those on the front?

What about radials on the front and bias on the rears? I have seen radials and bias mixed as long as they are on different axles......like bias ply fronts and radial rears, and it seems just fine.....

    Opinions?

Have you tried to get in touch with them?

At the rare, sporatic times I did have a problem with one of their Tires, it was taken care off.

If I remember right the guy I talked to was called Jess, and he is on the HAMB too...

My bias ply 7.60 x 16 Firestone rears are just fine.......

Coker is great to deal with. I have bought a few sets of bias plys and they all have been fine. They have promt service and sell very good quality tubes. I say thumbs up to coker. Just bought my last set a couple of months ago and everything balanced up just fine.

I've had no less than 5 sets of those very tires and have never had an issue with them... Sitting around for 2 years? That might be a problem with Coker (it certainly would be for me if it was my company), but I do suggest contacting them just to see... They have done some pretty amazing customer service deals in the past.

To me, the problem is the time... As a business, how can they warranty something after that time period without knowing how they were stored - ya know? I mean, if they were on a car or a roller they are most likely flat spotted...

All that said, I don't work there... They are just pals of mine...

Have you had them spin-balanced? The bad thing with rubber is if it isn't moving it tends to harden in spots,a rubber mallet is an example, if its not used now and the it will harden like a rock.
A good tireman should be able get them to roll smooth if they haven't dried up too much.

Hey I bought a sandwich 3 years ago and now it's all moldy? Just sayin'.

At what point does your purchase become your responsibility instead of Cokers.

I bought a set of American Cl***ic wide white radials from them recently and they are fantastic. Shipped on time and arrived well protected.

Iv'e been using cokers since they started making the radials,
I ran remingtons before that and what a difference,
The radials from Coker are really excellent tires,
I had an issue with 4 tires out of about 10 sets and Coker paid for the return and sent me back 4 new tires
I also was given the HAMB discount for the 4 I just bought for my 49 Merc.

    Hail to the (ALLIANCE)

    Thanks, Corkey

i bought 4 silvertown radials from them a couple of years ago . the tires would not balance out after many tries.coker refunded my money along with return shipping, and this was after a years time. there are not too many companies that will stand behind there products like that anymore. i have bought from them in the past and will no doubt in the future. mike

I have heard that old tire guys used to balance/round bias plies by spinning them and shaving the tire into round ... any body else know about this? maybe that is what needs to be done with his old tires. It was said that this was common with bias plies.

Had the same problem with my ribbed fronts. Finally found a place with a skimmer. One was out more than the other, after they were skimmed I had them spin balanced on the roadster and they are fine now. Years ago when you put on a set of bias tires it was recommended to have them skimmed and balanced on the car. Coker has always taken care of any problems I ever had.

I had a set of the ribbed Firestones that would not balance (took some **** from some people here on the subject). Coker replaced them straight up and no more problems.

Man I don't know about email but I called the (800) 251-6336 number late the other night thinking I could get business hours to setup a call the next day. Guy named Hector picked up. I don't know if he was on call or what.

I was completely unprepared for the converstaion but after fumbling for a pen and explaining what I was looking for he had me setup with prices for the wheels and tires and a damn good suggestion for the look. Can't speak to the hardware yet but that was an A+ experience for me.

I've never dealt with Coker Tire.
Based on what I've heard way before this thread ever came up, I decided they're the way to go.

I know for sure, that during the buildup of my 29 Sedan, ordering and installing my Cokers will be one of the absolute high points of that car's construction.
