We've started to to do the body work on my 41/6 Ford(4dr) and I have not put the taillights in it yet. I had a 100 pictures of the back ends of these cars so I could find something I liked but now there all gone(computer crash). So lets see some options, not looking for same old, same old or the caddy fins just looking for something nicer then the pertruding stock ones.

  2. 62-67 Corvette bezels low in the fenders or rear pan, invert the 46-48 protrusions and tunnel them into the fenders, but whatever you do, don't use 53-54 Buick taillights tunneled into the fenders... that would be sick and wrong.

I have seen a few with vette lights in them, not sure if I like it yet. I've seen the 46-8 recessed done many times and the 39's. Actually thought about moving the 46 recessed ones down into the bumper and moving the bumper in closer to the body. Still looking at options before forcing my buddy to do the body work then going back and cutting holes in the fenders.

Here's fellow hamber Chad s's tail light treatment. He's currently redoing the car so it will not be this way when done.

'50 lincoln tail lights look pretty sharp. the contoured shape of them fits in pretty nicely with the contours of the rear. Here's a pic of the lights, i'm sure you're familiar with them. I tried to find a picture of Albert Drakes 46 Ford (maybe 48?) in the book "Fifties Flashback".

Ace, I am not familiar with those, can you tell me the outside diameter of those, I like that better then the vette ones.

They are 6.5" across from outside edge of bezel to outside, and about 4.5" from inside across to opposite inside edge. i just so happen to have a set...sitting in a '50 lincoln:D . I actually took the lenses out and temporarily stuck 59 cad. lenses in. (by temporary i mean i've had them that way for 4 years and i'm too lazy to take them out!) Fits nicely, but i think i'm putting the stock lenses back in sometime. they just look so good stock. i don't know if they make re-pop ones though. i'm ***uming they do since i stole that picture from another website somewhere. i've got a '48 ford sedan i'm working on and i think once i find another set i'm sticking the lincoln lights in there myself. hope that helps ya!

Ace, I'm sure you put those up there by the rear fender already, to me they seem like they would be a little big (proportion wise). O/T Nice place to live, I'm originally from Chagrin Falls and my dad raced his 55 Chevy and other cars at 42.

oh cool! i'm only 15 miles from 42 and about 15 from what used to be Norwalk raceway. A friend of mine lives not too far from you, in Cedar Springs, MI. His sister lives in Grand Rapids. his name is Mickey Mann. Might know him?

Anyhow, as for the lights, i don't have any holes drilled for them to set them in, but "eyeballing it" they look pretty good. That coupe that Albert Drake owned in the 50s had 49/50 lincoln tail lights and the car looks awesome with them. They fit right in about 4 inches from the corner of the deck lid on each side. the contour is almost exact. See if you can locate that book "Fifties Flashback" by Al Drake and check it out, it's towards the back. They surprisingly aren't too big, to me anyhow. i think he even talks about how the contour fit almost perfectly and he hadn't seen anyone in his area with them.
