I have been wanting to build a hot rod with a unique engine. I thought that a slant 6 ,or a pontiac straight 8 , or maybe a hudson twin H might be cool.
Any pics? horror stories? or should I just go with a 283 and save myself the trouble?

mine is inline and fenderless - for some old shots go the older pics on the Inliner "rides" section, and for some newer shots check out these:

  5. Here are some of my roadster that has a packard 327 inline in it now. Was a 288 last year. mcculloch supercarger with 2 stromberg48 witch is not enough carb with the blower. but it does go real good. i will post some pics of the new engine with a aluminum head. good luck. with an inline no one will blame you for being like every one else.

Back in the 1970's , I saw an interesting engine in a econorail dragster.

It was a FORD, 300-6 cyl inline with a crossflow head built out of two 302 aluminum heads welded togather.

The owner cut the front cylinder off one head, the rear off another , bolted it to a 1" thick plate and T.I.G. welded them up.

Cant remember exactly, but I think he said some of the head bolts worked and some were plugged and drilled.

It was really different AND it was fast too.

The Hudson would be cool, I know a guy with a room full of Hudson engine parts still in their factory boxes and at least three usable engines, if you decide to go that way.

If the weather is good tomorrow I will be getting it out to take the daughter for a ride.

thanks for the new posts guys! I only saw the first 3, and then it disappeared! I've had my heart set on a pontiac 8 or a hudson... but the other day I stumbled on a 40 chev 6 sitting outside a shop(the truck got the 350-350) still got a ******,and is supposed to turn over, so I might go that way if the price is right!
