surely someone has something other than skinny bias plys under a 61 chev....how wide of wheel and tire.....and offset if possible....thanks
A 15X8 Corvette rally will work but it's a ***** to get it in there with something like a 255-60-15. My last one I ran 15X7 rallys all around with 235-60's in front and 245-60's in back. You pretty much want to stick with that offset - whatever it is. Charlie
A rally wheel like he mentions is abou 3-1/2" Back spaceing.... I am running taller 235-X-75-X- 15" on 51 chevy wheels on the rear of my 58 ElCamino....[have same wheeltubs and width spacings]
had to ask .... a buddy said he had a pair of vettes under his 60.....i currently have a pair of 15x7's under the car ....and they were a total pain in the *** to get under it....thanks for the reply....brandon
i'm running a 235/70/15....but my wheels are a 4.25" backspace.....thinking a 5" back 8" wheel.....guess its time to start measuring .... brandon
Yep, one side needs to hang while the other side goes up in the well. Bumper jack works good for that, but they make me nervous in my old age. Charlie
Yeah.... Ya wanna watch carefully Brandon and not let the wheels hang down enough to pull the carrier bearing out of its rubber surround...Ha-Dont ask how I know that.....
295-50-15 on 15x8 corvette style rallys fit. I beleive they have a 4" backspace. You do have to jackup the rear frame, and let the rear hang to install them.
I had 255/60x15's on 15x7 Daisy wheels on mine. If I jacked it up on one side on the frame where the lower control arm mounts, that would get the rear end hanging down enough that I could sneak the wheels on.
If you're really going to drive the car, think again about using a combo that requires fancy jacking and rear hanging (that sounds slightly ****ographic). That supersize combo won't seem so cool if you ever need to change a wheel on the side of the road.
