I am planning on making my lake pipes functional and also dropping my car another couple of inches. So to make sure I am not going to drag them on every bump I want to move them up so they are flush with the bottom of the rocker. So, who has done this? Did you run the pipe through the quarter panel or move the pipe into the wheelwell?

The first old rod magazine I saw in the early 60s showed putting the pipe through the bottom of the front fender tail, and then making a custom tunnel to weld & mold to the fender. That tunnel was like half a bullet shape; sliced down the middle. It was all molded in to look like it was part of the fender.

The idea behind putting your lakes at the bottom OF the rocker, was to give the visual appearance of the car being a couple of inches lower.........without actually doing it. That way, it saves you from catching anything important on debris in the road.

I'd mold them in, so they look more custom and not so trashy after thought.

I'd mold them in too. Check out some of the Alexander Bros work - they worked this into their style quite a bit... The Victorian and Tom Biles '57 Ford come to mind.
