394 Olds starter numbers?

    do you need a 394 starter? :confused:

    i'm pretty sure i have one i'm not going to use,i could get Kev to put it in his suitcase next time he comes over ;)

    Yes mate, I've had 2 sent over to me in the U.K. but both are wrong, Do you mean Kev Elliott ??? If you could that would be fantastic, I need one for a 1959 394, I was told they are different to the earlier models.

    Here's the ring gear, It has 176 teeth

    Here's tha starter i had sent, Obviously wrong as the mouting bolts screw into the starter but on mine the bolts go through the starter and screw into the bottom section of the bellhousing.

    here's a shot of a 394 starter
    and a grungy 371 on the bench for comparing to yours

    gotta run to work
    maybe someone here can help you with part numbers?

    I should have two laying around for 1964 394's... If they're the same, I can get you numbers off those ones!

    Press that would be helpful but i'm not sure if they are the same ???

    This starter has been a nightmare to get, i really want it to start the old girl.

    so a '64 394 starter will work on a '59? :confused:

    the ring gear for '64 394 is 166,will it still work?

    yes it will fit according to the hollander interchange

    but a 64 j88 is different.


    and langy, sorry we do not have any right now

    the one i have is from a '64 394,i'll double-check the fit for myself.
