This is a car my dad and I built about 6 years ago, while I was still in college. It was the first full build for both of us. There are some small flaws in the body from body work that I did when I didn't know any better and we've been trying to figure out a way to fix it without completely repainting it. Neither one of us knows how to blend the metallic pearl on the car, plus the car could use a change. We wanted to keep at least some of the paint, as it's the last car a friend of ours painted before he passed away. We've decided to two tone it, with the break just below the windows, where the stainless trim is. The top will stay the color it is and the bottom will be windveil blue, like on the mustang pictured below. I'd like to replace the stupid hagen heaglights with '53 Mercury headlight rings. Could anyone photoshop these changes along with any other suggestions anyone has. I'd like whitewalls, but my dad hates them and since we share the car, it's keeping it's blackwalls, but someone could photoshop that too if they want. Any help you could give would be appreciated.

The color break will be higher, right below the windows and the lighter color will run onto the hood. It has some areas that need attention and the tranny is coming out to be rebuilt and have a gv overdrive unit added to it.

  5. ...what about just keeping the roof the blue color, and going a whole new direction for the body? just a thought.

Your color choices do not work at all, for me.

Thanks, lowcab. Broman, I think it may need sidetrim of some kind on it too. Any ideas?

    GaryC.

    here's what i would suggest.

the general style of this car is "bottom heavy".
you might be able to alleviate some of that with
a careful separation between the two different blues.
the bottom HAS to be brighter and blue-er! think Candy Blue.
the wide whites are a good look for your car.
another option would be some plain chrome steel wheels with
    chromed baby moons.

good luck... that's a pretty sweet little ride.

Any sidetrim ideas, guys? Maybe something to follow the color break Gary C. did? I would really like to break it at the existing stainless and then maybe add some kind of side trim to the lower body. I like some of the stuff so far, could someone mess with the headlights too?

I didn't get away long enough to doctor up your pic yet...

    I suggest a straight spear - like a 50 Buick Special.

It's just straight and solid and I'd put it about mid (belt line).

And GaryC is dead on right. You need the lighter color to be the top one and the deeper/darker blue on bottom - to give the car more "wrap" and to make the car look longer and leaner. Which is another reason to get a side spear.

I'd suggest maybe a fender skirt and side pipes (?) maybe - but I'd have to see the side pipes on a Photoshop before I went that far....

We'll see if I can break away to get one hacked out for you.

I agree with the lighter color on top, and I think you need some chrome on the sides of it, too. If you're interested, I have some chrome side spears from a '53 Buick, but not a complete set, and I'm not sure you could make it work on your car.

I also have some 14" Chrome Smoothies with baby moons, they're Unilug to fit 4-1/2" and 4-3/4". And if your Dad is dead set against WWW, I don't think he'd go for the full length side pipes, would he? If he says no to that, how bout some chrome Bellflower Tips? Speedway sells some nice ones that would look cool as hell on there.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong..................

Broman, olklunker, thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking a spear for side chrome, something simple, but to break up the slab sides. I like the suggestion of bellflowers too, but it may be hard to do, as the rear fenders stick out past the rest of the body and there's not alot of room to run exhaust to the outside under there. The car is as low as it will go in the back without drastic surgery to the floor and wheelwells. The front is higher now than in these old pictures, as we had some problems with it being too low to get in and out of both his driveway and mine, but it's still low. I love this car and just want to make a few changes. It's got a built 440 and is scary fast and will really be a hoot to drive once the gear vendors unit goes in.

BTTT, just hoping for a few more ideas, especially with sidetrim. Football season's almost over (I'm a high school coach), so I'll finally have some free time to tear into it over the winter.
