I have to say that my gig at Goodguys is pretty damn cool. Not only do I get to see more cars than pretty much anyone on the planet, I also get to taste the local flavors. This past weekend in Kansas City was one such occasion. Brandon and I did a bunch of cool stuff like, ate at the original Authur Bryant's, raced go-karts and attended Greaserama.

The little town and the one-screen drive-in were awesome and felt like a trip back in time. The staff was friendly and everyone seemed to be having a blast.

We checked out cars without being "on the clock", but my mind couldn't get past the fact that I was going to get to watch Mad Max on the big screen. My three favorite movies in the world are Mad Max, Road Warrior and The Blues Brothers (the order of preference changes daily). I was stoked to see what seemd to be a real Australian Falcon-turned V8 Interceptor parked and ready to watch the movie. The first movie in the double feature was Thunder Road. It was cool, but paled in comparison to witnessing Mad Max in it's undubbed form, five stories high.

We only got to check out one band. I don't know who they were but they rocked and frenzied the crowd.

Another very cool thing was that I met the promoter, Punk Rod Todd, and he was super complimentary of Billetproof and cited it as his influence for the show. It made me feel pretty good.

These guys did a great job, and I hear that the show will be two days next year.

Here's some of what I saw...

    Dang! Beat me to it!

Road Warrior is my all time favorite, very cool car there. I have always wanted to make a copy of the red Ford truck with the boat windshield from that one.

  25. Cool pics again Kirk.

As a side note alot of the Mad Max movie was shot in the small town of Clunes in central Victoria which is only 20 miles from where I live.

They had the 25th anniversary celebration of the making of the film in 2004. I have a few pics if you want to see them.

I really liked your coverage of this show. Less artsey more fartsey. I love anything with a franken or herman head on it.

Kirk, Thanx for the great words and support of our show. We put alot of time and sweat into making the GREASERAMA the unique event that it is rather than just another car show. I am not one of many words and posting things by no means is my specialty. (Hell I just now got on the HAMB) I guess I would rather be down at the garage building the cars that I love. The old Model A with the 5 1/2" chop that you posted was mine. Next year it will be sportin it's new drivetrain and mill, a '52 caddy 331. The '56 wagon with the Herman. Punk Rods logo painted on the radiator was also mine.
I figured since you are all "ate up" on Mad Max you might enjoy this photo I took late at night. Also I included some pictures of the art trailer "Lily's Greasey Gallery" which I am the currator of. Anyone that has interest in submitting for next year let me know.
Take care and keep doin' what you are doin'. It is definately a style that creates inspiration!

    Punk Rod ERIC
