Door window garnish moldings for a 1940 Chevy Deluxe Coupe: are they the same as any other year or years, or is it a one year only deal? I am told that the Deluxe is different than the Standard, or Master. Apparently there is a right one present for the car I am looking at, and trying to figure out what to look for if I get the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I know that one or more of ya has the answer to this!! Thank you - Tim
I think its a one year only thing.. and certainly would be ONLY for coupe.. as sedan is alot different.. the differences from standard to master would be minimal.. (a standard would fit a master, but might have different trim.) my father has LOTS of 40 chevy stuff.. but no coupe trim at this time.. pm me if your looking for anything else.
I am pretty sure that any 40 Chevy coupe window garnish molding will work. As far as the different types of trim packages. They made a special deluxe, master deluxe and a master 85. The special deluxe has a lot stainless steal. The belt molding on the special deluxe is stainless and is held on with clips, the belt molding on the other two models is made on the body like in years past. That is the biggest difference between models that I have found. Everything else should interchange except for the belt trim. Hope this helps you out!
40 Coupes have the B pillar slanted forward, 40 Sedans have the B pillar straight up, so only a Coupe will work. All Coupe frames will fit Coupe doors. 40 Chevys are one year only, 39's and 41's are different.
Thank you guys. I would guess this is a Special Deluxe - as the trim is clip on. Anyone have experience with whether any other GM cars of the same year(s) will interchange, as in Buick, Olds, Pontiac? Any good places to look for the one piece or a pair? The worst thing about not having the garnish is the window falls in when you roll it down without it!
My Dad has had a 40 Chevy Special deluxe since 1957. Still has the bill of sale for $300.00. It still has only 35,000 miles on it. Any GM Coupe product from 1940 should work.
