is anyone useing a 51r battery in there cars? i'm thinking of getting one. for my A banger. they have 500 cca, the size is the nice thing about them. i'm wondering if it will have enough ass for my banger?
I don't know what 51r means, but I've been running a battery in my 262" SBC powered '40 GMC that I took out of our '96 Honda Civic. It was the original equipment in the Civic and its been in my truck for about 5 years now. It's a tiny little almost motorcycle size 12 year old battery!
51r is the group size. all car batt are sized into groups by numbers. the 51r is for a 90s honda. i would say thats what you have Dr J.
Plenty good for your car. I have one in my "T". I think the chart said it was for an Infinity or something.. I like the size also.
Here is a handy chart depicting all the groups and their physical properties. http://www.rtpnet.org/~teaa/bcigroup.html
i had one in a modified awhile back tucked in behind the seat and it worked great with a mild 350. you might also want to check into odyssey batteries, that's what i have in my current car and it's real small, like 7x7x5 and it's got over 900cca and is a dry cell, they make a norrower one that is around 650cca too.
