    Got the valves adjusted.

Finished fabbing the fuel pump drive.

Nozzles are on order....starter is gonna need some serious thinking...windage tray - done - shit I'm actually close enough to make a LIST:eek:

Roo, soon I hope. I need to get serious about the starter motor asap. I was so focused on makingsure the starter would clear the chassis I forgot to mock it up with the girdle in place. - duh. Hopefully I can just hack up a starter motor - IF there's enough to hack off. I really don't want to pull the girdle off, but what ever it takes.

    Chili Phil - I don't drink - so that means I can use alcohol - right??? :)

I can't freakin' wait to hear this thing make noise!!!!!!

My uncle raced those back when they were cutting edge technology--392 with injectors for a long time. He built a new shop once, and he and his crewchief were tuning on the car in the brand new building. Uncle George was in the car and thought "shit...this floor's too clean!" and proceeded to do a smokey burnout from the back wall out the front door. Late in the evening.
My aunt came flying out of the house "I think she was probably swearing at me...the engine was still running so I couldn't hear her" and when George climbed out of the car and looked at his handywork, it was raining glass shards in the shop. Every single flourescent tube in his lights had shattered.

Just thought I'd give you a little more inspiration!
    You car looks awesome.

Jacin, I've been following your build since the early stages on metalshaping.com. It is nice to have a talented individual share such a cool ride with us. Any plans on where it might run when done? I would sure like to hear and see it in person someday. pool

Dirty2, Yeah supposedly the late mini starters are what the adapter is for - but nothing has fit with that adapter yet so I don't expect this to work either. In any event I ordered a starter today - should be here in a few days - so we'll see.

Brad54 - thanks for the story - it puts a huge grin on my face just to try and picture that.

Dave, I ain't gonna argue - it DOES need a blower. I even have one tucked away for a rainy day ;) The nozzles I bought are used - so if they're junk - I'll hit you up for some - got any 16AS right angle Hilborn nozzles?? If so how much??? Would like to have a spare "Dash 1" pump too.

Pool, Well then, you know EXACTLY how long I've been draggin my feet on this. Just goes to show - even a slacker like me can eventually make a little progress.

Kerry, your post means ONE thing. When YOU starting on one??? :0 :)

  13. If only... It's just money right? I do have a spare 354 just sitting there. Hmmmm.

Well actually the money ain't so bad if you spread it across SEVERAL years like I did:eek:

Besides that 354 just sittin' there.......couple swap meet scores......

  15. Yeah, I think about a set of American standard wheels I should have bought, A cast timing cover, dented up old Moon tank... and so on.

Right now I'm learning what I can break on the coupe now that it's blown. Spending my coin there.

Tinkered with the starter today - there was a "slight" real estate dispute - the starter wanted to occupy the same space as the girdle. So after a trip to the mental institution (pulling my hair out) I ended up with this. I hope the new Tilton is the same as my mockup one:eek:

If you look close where the reflection is you cna see how the starter is recessed into the girdle.

  21. Looks good to me. I know what you mean worrying about another starter fitting. When I blew up the pressure plate and ventilated my bell, the bell I replaced it with seemed identical till I bolted up the starter. Gear clearance was way different. On the other hand I bet Tiltons tolerances are a lot better than the old junk I was dealing with. Man, that things cool!
