Anyone done this or seen one? I was thinking of getting an early comet 62-64 . I have found a few fairly cheap. Just didn't know if the straight axle idea would be more trouble than its worth. Thanks for your help.
Deadend, John's right...several folks going the straight axle route (mine included) recently. Biggest decision you've got is to go with an old factory straight axle, like an econoline, or buy one the new axles from MAS or speedway. I'm doing the econoline route, because I want the I-beam look, but it is not without it's problems...namely you need to narrow it. Also going to have to figure out your cross steering. Is it worth it? To me it was the most important aspect of the build. Gotta have it. Good luck on your search.
Look up "jack Chrismans Comet" He ran a '64 and a '65. The 64 was considered the first funny car. Killer looks. Good luck
