O.K. , you guys know I am heading down there, and I was figuring on sleeping in the car, or in the back of the shop, but the realization has come, that the wife wants to go too, and we will have a 2 Y/O with us... SO with that said, are there any of you that have ANY contacts for hotels in the so cal area??? I will be interviewing at Hollywood Hotrods, but I don't NEED to stay in that area, I am also NOT looking for a hand out, "just a help out"!! online the prices are absolutely outrageous, and I may not be looking on the right places.. so thats why I am asking here....Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!...Ken

  4. There are literally 100's of chain hotel/motels all over the San Fernando valley. Up and down the 405 are a bunch that are 50-70 bucks a night, or less.

How long are you staying? The residence inn is not too expensive, and is like a little apartment with a kitchen, etc. The maid cleans up all the mess.

That might be good for you since you have a little kid..

Ken, If you get near Pomona, There is a Best Western in Diamond Bar Ca. that we stay at when we race at Pomona, cheap rates, and a really good, cheap eating place next door, I think its called the Continental Resturant.

  7. Key Inn is on the east side of the 405 in Tustin in OC. I think it is at Tustin Ranch rd or Red Hill. Maybe 2-3 miles south of where the 55 joins the 405. Last time I was there it was $60 a night and clean. You can get an efficiency for a few bucks more.
Hey, any HAMBers here get him a Disneyland p*** for the kid????
I might be able to swing a discount at Sea World SD. PM me if your interested.

  8. Sorry, wrong on previous post. It is off the 5 fwy, not the 405. Key Inn, I stayed there several months.

If you stay in El Monte there is a decent travel lodge off of the 60freeway and peck road, its about $65-70 bucks a night from what i remember a few months ago, theres also a cheaper hotel across the street for $45 a night but thats obviously not as nice as the travel lodge. Best western in Covina off of citrus is usually around $80 and most Motel 6 are around $60 to $70. Thats all I really know of based on personal experience. Good luck.

look on craigslist L.A, S.D and orange county look under sublet / temporary or put an add in housing wanted, state what you need, what area and for how long and someone will reply with something. If you do the hotel thing and you have AAA that helps for a little discount too.

keep in mind that cheap may not always be safe - it will be for your kid and wife so it might be worth paying a bit more for your sanity while you arent around (when you are interviewing)

When we go to Pomona for the NHRA drags we always try to stay at the Comfort Suites in San Dimas - just down the road from the track. They have a fantastic breakfast every morning and an open bar every evening from 4:30 to 7:30; both of which are included in the price of the room!!! Can't beat that. Plus, the owner Paul is usually on the premises to talk to. A great guy.

Also, if you can get rooms at the Sheraton Fairplex, which is on the grounds at the Pomona track it is a really nice place. If you are looking for rooms and there is nothing going on at the Fairgrounds, the room rates are very reasonable. Many of the rooms are suites.

    Hope this helps.

The LA County Fair is at the Pomona Fairgrounds until the 30th. Thats where the NHRA Museum is.
The Fair could be a cool thing for the whole family....and Dad can go to the museum for a few hours. The Fair is huge.
