Here's a few pics from the show today. Nice turnout, as usual, too many muscle-cars, but hey, they're cool. The best thing about it was a mini-cacklefest! I stuck around the "Michigander" and watched them fire it up. They asked a guy from the crowd to help them fire it up, the lucky *******.
That coupe is rolling history. I'd love to be the care-taker of it. It looks like it was last updated in the late 60's/early 70's. I know I've seen it here before. Anyone know the owner?
friday night they blower started the AA/FD's and drove them down main street in Frankenmuth almost a 1/2 mile ! at 8:30 that night they did another blower start, lot's of fire outta the pipes.this is a great place for a show, i think they said 3200 registered cars. lots of muscle car and alot of customs and hotrods too.three days of fun.next year is the 25th year should be a great show.
I think I heard them talking about that coupe on the loud speaker on Sunday...and if I'm not mistaken, believe they said that the owners were only the 2nd to have owned the car. It was like, a 60+ year old woman driving it. They were tellin a story about how, she has to climb outta the thing to manually choke it, then climb back in to keep it goin to warm it up, and how one day while she was chokin' the carb, it slipped into gear and ran her over. It was kinda neat watchin her cruise past in that thing. That was definetly one of the nicest flatty's I've ever seen!
The women's name is Marion and I would guess she's 70 BUT doesn't act or look it. That's her by the drivers door in the above photo by DirtyTace and her boyfriend Jerry in the ballcap next to her. She drives that coupe almost daily around town to all the cruz nites and car shows, she's also a long hauler on Power Tour. She also has a 1950 Merc custom as well. She's a good pal of both me and my folks. I hope I'm as active in the hot rod scene when I reached that age. What they said about the car slipping into gear and running her over was true. She got pretty banged up and the rear of the car got damaged when it finally came to a stop. It happened a couple of weeks before Eyes on Design in June here in Detroit, which she had been invited to bring the car to. She had to p*** on bringing it BUT will be invited back I was told. Here's a couple of shots I've taken of it
That car is owned by a local guy named Don, it is infact a real dose of history. He drives that car everywhere. If you ever make it to an event that I am at, and the car is there too, look me up, and I will introduce you to him. He has alot of stories about it.
Yeah the coupe is sweet, especially with the story behind it. And, that lead pic of the Blue Streak is enough to make a grown many cry. Nice stuff. Thanks for posting.
