Well there will be as soon as I get some 3MB files down to 70KB. For now here's the HAMB shot we took (well actually the second one after Tommy showed up). Great meeting all you guys (and thanks to Beth for taking the pics). Left to right - Richie, Leadsledmerc,Deyomatic, Model40, 48Bill, Nashrodman, AV8Paul, 59BuickWagon, Tommy Oh and LA32 showed up too: Dennis
hey dennis, wish i could have made it, what a great day for it huh? let us know where we can find the pics, thanks man. later, mike
Dennis, I second that, it was great gettin together with you HAMB guys. You did real good with the names until all the reshoots! I ended up second from the left, and that's Deyomatic third. Another great day at Ty-Rods, and I think the new place is even better than Hudson. Plenty of elbow room, and room to grow. I didn't hear the count, but there must have been better than 1300 cars. I've got a bunch of pictures to put up as well. Here's a few.
It was great meeting you guys.... I had a ball yesterday. Why didn't anyone tell me I was that ugly! JEEZ! Once again I'm the shortest guy in the crowd....
Sorry I couldn't make it. This was the first TY-Rods I had missed in about 12 years. Oh well the new job called. I had to be in Montreal for a meeting first thing this morning.

When he cranked that motor up on that Falcon it made the ears vibrate and the smell was intoxicating. I guess I'm hooked again til the next time. It was great getting the chance to put the real person together with the names on the HAMB. Thanks for getting us together. 48bill
OK...Now I DEFINITELY need to make this show next year! Very cool pics Dennis. Thanks for sharing them! Spike
Once again I missed out on all the fun. I'm glad that I paid the 15 bucks to get in first thing though. A couple hours with mom, pops (model40), av8paul and some others was good. A chance to see the Ed Hovagimian roadster (first pic, green with y-block), the Alter Boys cars, and the Rolling Bones cars, and that ridin' high model A coupe with the banger and checkered roof was worth the price of admission for sure. Just wish I could've hung out longer, but like many others, the job calls. My new mantra: "only four more years of retail, only four more years of retail..."
Ha! Thanks for trying to make me feel better...but honestly I've come to grips with my "low center of gravity". If everyone MUST know.....I was standing in a pothole (yeah, they're EVERYWHERE in m***." I'm really 6'11"
Hey does anyone know who owns that purple 32 roadster, thats a nice car,to bad I think the guy trailered that car there. But I still like that car alot.
Hey Dennis: I see this thread got ressurrected. What a coincidence;I just got my application for this year's show in the mail.I didn't think I'd get one as I never replied last year. I'm thinking about coming out this year if I can swing it and the Safari is still alive.Always like to see pics from my old stomping grounds;thanks for putting them up. On that thing with Cotton's T;I'm not sure that is what it is supposed to say but it sure looks like it.Late 60's and early 70's lettering was a lot like that;especially on rock posters and the like.Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelly used to do a lot of the Fillmore posters and they were masters at making lettering almost illegible. In fact one of their posters(for the Dead if I remember right)could either read,"American Beauty" or,"American Reality" depending on what your mind was saying. They even did one that was a jumble made to look like lettering and really didn't say anything. I used to study a lot of these lettering styles to get ideas for my own lettering so maybe that is why that one stood out so dramatically. Ray
It will be good to see you again Ray. I hear you on the Stanley Mouse (Studios) stuff. I met him at the 50th Cobo Hall show after Jerry Dixey told me "You won't believe this history on this guy over in a 10 x 10 spot on the back wall." So I go over and who's there talking to him but Bob Laravee (Sr.). So I get into the conversation and Sr. is blowing Stanley's horn because he seems to shy to do a lot of bragging. What an interesting character to talk to. To continue a bit and tell you a bit of a small world story. That encounter was on Sunday and Monday night we were in an artsy fartsy store in Lahaina (Maui - Detroits on the way to Hawaii right?) and they have a copy of his really neat perfect bound book on sale for some outrageous price. So I tell the girl the price is a little high and "..the one I bought yesterday was signed by Mr. Mouse and was only half the price." She replies. "How do you know he signed it?" to which I reply. "Because I watched him. He signed this T-Shirt too" pointint to the shirt I was wearing. You didn't need a hearing aid to hear her jaw hit the floor Surprised there's never been a thread on the HAMB about him. Well gotta get back to work and get ready for our Open House next Sunday. Later.
Hey chevy 31, look at the date of this thread! Try this one: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207324
Wow, I cant believe my eyes, dont tell me that car has a 58 tbird front bumper molded and canted quad headlights, If it does, Its a car I had my hands on. that car keeps getting basterdized more and more, after I saw the suicide doors I gave up on it. What happened to the studebaker windshield for the rear gl***? I restored the body on that car over 20 years ago, It was an original custom out of n.y. built in the late 50's tarquinis is the name of the car and yes I have pictures. from now on I guess ill keep all my stuff, to keep it out of the hands of butchers, Thanks for the pictures, I miss that show, dennis when are you going to do those 235 side covers.
