It was a little pricy but since it included a very nice breakfast, and we were splitting it three ways, it wasnt too bad. Besides, I knew what was in the two story lobby would make Megan happy. She was all over the two bears Last night, late, typical, we had a nice BBQ dinner at this place which was located directly in front of the hotel. We packed up the cars and headed out but less then a mile down the road we had to stop. When we were in Colorado a couple of weeks ago we p***ed a s****book store and I didnt stop. I wanted to but didnt want to hold everyone else up. Well Larry said it was my vacation too and a few minutes spent in a s****book store wouldnt be any big deal. I didnt see any others till now. So ..Megan and I pulled in and the guys followed. They hung out in the parking lot and us girls went inside. We were blown away. The store was MUCH larger on the inside then it looked. Most of you guys know Im a s**** booker and I was THRILLED to find out Megan is too. We had a ball inside the store. They had a whole section that was area specific. In other words, they had products to use in pages with a Yellowstone, Cody, WY, Black Hills themes. We were in heaven and both spent a chunk of change. In case you have no idea of what a s****book page looks like. The store had lots of ideas on the walls and the owner had no problem with me taking photos inside the store.
Back in the cars and were heading thru town. We come up on this van and Megan and I kinda chuckle to each other. We go to p*** them on their drives side, their windows are down and we both yell out Hey Frank, hey Phyllis, great to see ya and we wave franticly at them. They smile and wave but have this puzzled look on their faces like ..are we suppose to know those two girls in the purple convertible?? Were going to have some fun today even though its just a day of driving. The building and signs in Cody were kinda cool to look at while we p***ed thru the downtown area toward the two lane highway that we were going to travel on today. There was some construction along the way but nothing that really held us up too long. We did make a few new friends. I cant remember what town we were near when we came upon this air museum. It was closed but that didnt stop us from looking around through the fence. They also had some other stuff laying around. Back on the road. This is what a lot of the day looked liked. Around lunchtime we found a picnic table in Ten Sleeps WY and had sandwiches and chips .. And alittle photo fun More nice scenery
We decided our cars were looking alittle shabby after a few days on the road so we thought wed find another car wash and take a break and hose them off. George ..you want to wash the cars AGAIN?? Theres still plenty of salt underneath the cars HAD to stop when we saw this sign As we approached Devils Tower We did hike around and get an up close and personal look We stuck a Salt Cured HAMB Tour sticker in a secret location. Maybe 100 years from now someone will find it, wonder and goggle the name. We finally made it to South Dakota Spearfish wasnt far from this point. Checked into our room, changed and headed out to dinner. We found a GREAT place and the food was really good. It was just alittle on the late side so there wasnt much action. I think the town was somewhat worn out after hosting the biker ralley for the previous 10 days. We called it a nite and headed back to our rooms. Big day of cruzn through the Black Hills tomorrow.
Keep those card and letters coming...lol enjoying the trip, even here in Texas......thanks for taking the "high road"...... mark
You know what? If ANY of these guys were at my house, hanging out and I asked them if they wanted to look at a s****book they would roll their eyes and run for the hills BUT post the EXACT same photos and journaling on line and they eat it up. Go figure
Denise, I want to thank you for taking the time to post all these. I know it takes a lot of effort and it’s appreciated. Even tho I was there for some of the trip it’s nice to re-live it and see things thru your eyes. By the way, I was looking grumpy at the car wash because I didn’t take my truck this year and you guys were havin’ way too much fun Thanks for asking me to tag along....many happy memories.... See ya at the Zoo. I’ll try to put the big canopy up in the usual spot.
George, we certainly don't get to see or spend as much time together as we used to so the time we spent together means alot to me. I really enjoyed your company on the trip back. I've been meaning to PM you to ask for another copy of the third disk cuz the one you sent was blank.....the first two were fine. I'll bring you copies this weekend of all mine. I'm going to try to get to the fairgrounds early on Saturday morning as I'm trying to sell Dad's 48 Ford and I really need a spot in the front of the canopies. See ya Saurday bud!
We asked for a sticker now I have to drag Danyelle all the way to who knows where to find this hidden sticker. Nice picts, thanks for posting.
Denise these are great pics as usual, thanks for taking us all along for the ride.I've missed the rest of the trip, haven't been on the HAMB much lately.I'll be searching for the rest ASAP!
Thanks for posting the pics. Like George said, even though I was along I like to get your perspective! I put the sticker there for the gods of hot rodding. There were a bunch of other 'god' related paraphenailia around the bottom of the tower. I didn't have any busted rods or cracked pistons so a sticker had to do!
The sign at the place said "CLOSED" at the top then randomly listed the days of the week and random holidays below it. I have NO idea when it was or wasn't open or going to be open! I really wanted to check out some of those planes. I love looking at the inside of planes so I was pretty bummed. Denise was a good guard at keeping Larry and I from jumping the fence!
Denise, As usual, you post such good road tours. Thanks for sharing....now I want to go somewhere......anywhere Skot
Figures, I missed the part of the trip that included airplanes. But I can't complain too much after being buzzed by the P-51 that made a p*** at Bonneville on Monday morning. If it's the same place in Greybull that I've read about, they used to have a sh*tload of planes there, most used in the fire bomber operation or for spares. The business was closed down a couple years ago and they had a huge auction earlierthis year. Many planes and lots of parts ****tered into the wind to other museums / operators.
Could be. While we were there a family showed up and the guy said something about that place had some kind of accident a couple years ago that was a large liability. There was a lot of space, so I imagine at one time there were a lot more planes there. I thought the same thing when I saw it. Airplane boy isn't here to see the planes.
