Hidy-ho neighbor! My paws fixin to put his new badaz 250 in his 52 sport coupe to replace the original anemic 216. Along with the new 250 we will be sliding in a borg warner (yet to be purchased) t-10 out of a S-10 and need info on replacing the original 3 spd with this unit. A new s-10 rear end will also be going at the same time. I know lotsa people use this combo but Im having a booger of a time finding an adapter for the 1967 250 from 3spd to t-10. I know someones gotta make em, too many people have t-10s bolted to these inline six's. I have a line on a 273 gear ratio 4x4 rear which is the right size (60") and probably will be using that too. Any info and or help will be appreciated. Thanks, CR
not having done a t5 but my understanding is you need one from a 4.3 engine. also with a 2.73 rear you will have some where in the neighborhood of 1.90 to a 2.00 final gear ratio in 5th gear. multiply the 5th gear ratio x the rear axle ratio=final gear ratio.
Thank you odt! Also I am thinking that I messed up. I think I might be trying to find out how to use a t-5 trans out of a s-10 and NOT a t-10! This is all pretty new to me and someone else told me t-5's were used in s-10's and Im pretty sure dad has been reading about using the transmission and rear ends out of early to mid 80's s-10's so I guess we are looking for an adapter to go from a t-5? to his 67 250. Sorry for the confusion. Im still confused lol but we are learning. CR
The t5 from an s10 will have the 'standard' chevy bolt pattern. So almost any chevy v8, 230. 250 or 292 clutch housing will mate the 250 to the s10.
I put a t5 behind my 6'er. Its quite easy, you can use a 70s gm mid size car driveshaft and a nova/camaro/4x4 s10 rear or like I did, a 55-57 rear. this may give you some more good info, http://www.moderndriveline.com/Technical_Bits/manual_transmission.htm
