Out of curiousity... What does it take to put a 5 speed(out of an s10 maybe) behind a 235? ***uming you already have a driveshaft... I tried doing a search, but didnt find anything(maybe I just dont know how use the search effectively).

    Thanks,
    Cory

  4. Does the search feature still not let you search for three-letter/character terms? I ran into that problem a few times.

When I searched for 235 5 speed it would pull up anything that had "235" or "5" or "speed" in it, which as you could imagine is a hell of a lot of stuff

    use google.

type "site:www.jalopyjournal.com" (without the quotes) followed by your search terms.

to answer the question, have a look on inliners.org and stovebolt.com
both have FAQ sections that treat this subject.

Basically though, you need a truck bellhousing.

... or type in s10. The only thing people discuss on this board pertaining to s10's is putting the ******s and rear-ends under 49-54 Chevys.

slow 64 is on the right track. you need a 235 truck bell hsg and the 5 spd from a 4.3 not a 2.8.

  10. There's at least one post where a guy used the whole ch***is under a 50 Chevy, and I know there are others where people discuss using the frame.

Truck bell, post-54 car bell, both work, any T-5 works, best to verify the gears since any truck could get either ge****t. Buffalo makes a plate for $100 that lets you use a 54-older car bell with one, and it takes care of the extra inch of length on the input shaft.
