I see there are some hotels in Selinsgrove but thought somebody close may know the best place to stay if we are coming from the east, whats closest to the track, we want to drive out friday night. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Selinsgrove is about it. Its only about 20 miles...Beaver Springs is kinda out there! Here is a link with hotels and directions.

I've been getting LOTS of calls and email interest. Let me know if you have any questions. Zombie and the Traditional Rod & Kulture crew will be out from CA. Its my first time doing drags but I really think it will have the same feel of the Jalopy Showdown because of the grounds and the easy going at***ude of the owner, Beaver Bob.

I think we are gonna "rough it"...just camp out at the Beaver.
We will be heading up Friday night, as well...Saturday night ( after we lose...) I think a stay in State College is in order, that we might pay our respects to the fine ladies at The End Zone showclub.
Hey...I got a billet distributor...can I still play with you guy's? I just don't wanna drive 5 hours and have to go home...Are we talking "period styled" or "PERIOD CORRECT!!!!"

I booked at the comfort inn which is about 25 minutes east, we will be rolling in late friday night and doing some gear swaps in the quickchanges at the hotel.

  6. Used to stay @ the Selinsgrove Comfort Inn when I came out to Beaver Springs 2x/year for a VW event, when I worked for the VW Magazines. it ain't no Hilton, but it ain't bad...You'll like Beaver Springs, it's kinda like drag strips were in the '60's in SoCal, and the owner, Beaver Bob, is as cool as they come.

We're not going to beat you up over a distributor! Thanks for making the trip. There will be a lot of us camping Friday and Saturday nights on the grounds. The gates open Friday evening at 5. I'll see if we can get in earlier and report back.

Haha...cool, thanks! ( should I have mentioned the coil overs, and Manually shifted automatic?) anyway's...we are PSYCHED to be at this for the first event. The car is finally ( I think!) ready, and we will be going to Atco, this weekend to do some shaking down this Sunday. I am looking forward to the end of the month! I like the simplicity of the event...go fast, win, or lose. Like it should be.

Have a good time. As Usual my 65 will not be welcome. Are Henry J's with wings welcome again?

We will not turn any car away from the gate, just going to to keep a seperate area for the traditional cars as well as the track time. If you dont want to come and hang out for the day it is up to you. I'm working on perfecting the errrahhh, perfect show. Until then we'll just go with what we do and hope it works for most everyone. I've never done the drag show before so I cant comment on the Henry J being welcome.

I would make the cut off at 1942, but seriously doubt the track would make any money....

How about spectators in late-models? Welcome, or no?

    Guys,
All cars are welcome at the track. Traditional cars will be afforded a special parking area. Spectators in other cars will park in our regular spectator parking area. We have different heads up cl***es for traditional cars that will be contested on an 1/8 mile, and a Drag cl*** (1/4 mile) that will be run on an ET format for IHRA legal race cars. Again it will be limited by the year. 1963 and earlier with no electronics permitted in any compe***ion events. You will find that "The Beaver" is a very fan and racer friendly facility that prides itself in running a first cl*** event. We've been in the business for 37 years and we know how to make the events be enjoyable. To give you a little of who we are. My announcer and flagman, Flashback Bill, drives a Hot Rodded `30 Model A roadster, and I drive a `63 1/2 Galaxie 427. We look forward to hosting a really great event.

We have been asked if H.A.M.B. people can come in Friday and camp over for Saturday's event. The answer is yes, you are welcome to come on Friday. Our gates open at 5:00 for our weekly Friday Street Racing series. You can enter the track until 10:00, after that time the track is secured. The cost is only $5.00 each or $10 a carload as a spectator. We will direct you to the camping area and you are welcome to set up your site. The track camping rules are simple: No gl*** containers, music or riding cruising around the pit area. Camp fires are permitted and alcohol is limited to responsible adults. All we require is that you are responsible and be courtous to your neighbors and respect our facility and staff. You will find that we are a good bunch of people that truely enjoy our sport and the people.

Bob, I am going to be pushing your 10pm gate time on friday as I cannot leave until the kids get home from school and I am over 5hrs away. Any chance ScarryLarry or somebody can have a key to let the out of towners in. THanks. Don

    Welcome aboard Bob!

Thanks again for the ride in that Galaxy! It's not often that I get to go down the 1/4 mile in the dead of Winter! It was a blast!

Not that anyone has any doubts, but Beaver Springs is my favorite track on the East Coast. True, gr*** roots drag racing the way it should be, and a staff that loves what they do.

Flashback Bill's Model A is my "pit car" when I shoot at Beaver Springs. Bill hands me the keys and off I go. Sure beats walking all the way down to the finish line!

You guys are the best. I'm happy we have a track like this in my home state.

    Don,

Not to worry. If you arrive after the Friday Street Races are compleated, you can still came in and set up camp. We ask that you camp back against the tree line. We'll catch up with you in the morning and you can settle up with the gate girls for admission and a tech card.

It's going to be a great event.
