The old 57 has been in the family for over 30 yrs and it been through tough times so.....the buildup starts. 1st the doner
Gonna look a whole lot better soon---------------------------- the cab and bed went to a guy with a t-boned f150 so thay will ride on...
looks pretty good man, if ya wanna be REALLY different try gettin a tranny/t-case out of a v8 awd explorer... that would make it different alright keep up the good work
If ya wanted to be different you should put the motor in the Chevette. LOL Cool motor. I don't dig the 4x4 part myself but it is yours and it will probably be done before I start on my 57 Ford truck. Looks kool.
the front and rear are LS and with the mill it should be lots of fun. The induction system is what took alot of fab work. Thanks for all the great comments and for the anti 4x boys you dont know what your missing. the vette is a great parts getter and the girls dig the four door yellow cruzer (Not).
well i think she looks pretty good the chrome and polishing and fabbing done inner fender wells, firewall, headder and fwd frame done.
How hard was it switching the cabs out? Did you have to fab up new cab mounts or did they just drop into the '57's? I'm lookin to do something similar to this in the future, so I'm gonna be watchin' this thread like a hawk.
The cab mounts had to be fabed but not that tough, the tunnel was a little harder Let me know if u need to see more
Thanks for the pics. That gives me a pretty good idea of what I'd be lookin' at. Doesn't look too hard. What about the bed on this thing? Did the wheel base line up with the factory one or did you have to chop the frame or anything? Cause if you did shorten the frame couldn't you have just moved the motor forward instead of choping into the fire wall? Or was there not enough room in the engine bay? Thanks. Can't wait to see some pics with the bed on it.
Had to take out 6" just behind the cab and your right moving the eng. fwd. would have hit the weel base just about perfect but with the front diff. that would have caused interference problems between eng and the diff (one off oil pan/oil pickup) and i thought the tunnel would be alot easyer........It wasnt. The wiper motor took alot of head scratching.....glad thats over. The coolest part though was the way the cab just droped over the frame the width was perfect.
very cool i've been pondering somethng simmilar, i herd thru the vine about a 55 grain truck and had been looking at frame swaps but for some reason most of what ive seen has been clips or rants that a frame swap was to hard
