I know that this guy raced modern stuff, but I've admired rally drivers, and McRae was one of the best. Balls of steel and a great, humble attitude. Don't think so? Watch the last jump.

    Rally on Mr. McRae.

That sucks big time. He was very influential in bringing popularity to Rally. Very talented driver. When are famous people going to learn to stay away from helicopters and small planes?

  11. I wasn't sure if I shoulda posted this yesterday or not, but its here now, so I'll add....

Colin was a huge talent, the 1st Brit to win the World Rally Championship, he will be sadly missed, his dad Jimmy was a rally superstar in the 70's too.

    RIP Colin & his son.

On a side note, Dave Richards, Colin's old boss at Prodrive escaped serious injury today when HIS helicopter crash landed also.

  12. He was a class act as this posted clip shows. Those rally guys have to drive "on the edge"and they,re always rollin'and crashing off the course. How srange to die like this and so young, its a shock.

Too Bad. It's amazing how many drivers have been killed in Airplane-Helicopters crashes over the years....

He made it all look so easy, my son had his video game on the computer, and it was the only one I played, or knew how to play, but even it sure made you appreciate the talent it takes for the real thing. It was so well done, you just knew he must have been personally involved in it's development. Even if you're not a gamer, you should try it, it really makes you feel like you're in the drivers seat.
    He'll be missed.

R.I.P. Colin and the others. Really horrible about the boys. He was one of the reasons I rally today. He was a very inspiring driver, always on the knife edge. Very sad.

I think this sums it up for me.

"In the 2006 event, McRae flipped his Subaru, tearing a wheel off the car...

    ...but still finished second."

    RIP

Apparently his son and a couple other people died in this crash too, very sad.

Great driver and a class act! I guess he's with some other great ones now.
There was just something about Colin that made you like him...cool guy.

Zman...thats a good game. I've played it a time or two myself and always enjoyed it. Colin MUST have been involved in the design rather than just being the face they put on the box!

in the late 80's the group B rally cars were lapping on road courses fast enough to qualify for Forumla 1 races.

RIP, we lost a great one.
