..NEW PICS AND VIDEO... I picked up a 31 coupe body in a junk yard cheap last year.I had it blasted and put away until now.i purchased all the patch panels and sub rails i now have it channeled and some of the panels cut out. at first i didnt realize that some one had cut the lip that the hood sides rest against all off. so now i need full cowl panels and they are not available could some one tell me please what is the difference in width from a roadster or what is the width of a roadster cowl as i want to make them fit. thank you to all that can reply heres pics of car[/IMG]
Bummer, the cowl panels themselves should fit from any body. That's the one part of the car that is samey same.
i think brookville can supply roadster cowl sides. its only different at the toprear part. if you get hard up, ive got one that the windsheild posts were cut off....
I had a similar question a while back, and some fellow hamber's came to my rescue. Here is a link from that thread that should give you some helpful info: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110057 The roadster beltline is different, but the rest is the same. For what you need to do, they should work. The roadster full cowl panels are a little spendy, but it is what it is. Hope this helps a little Dan
No problem man. I've had others help me so many times here, glad I could return the favor. The first 3 pics in my attached thread are a closed car cowl, & the bottom pic is a roadster cowl. You can see the difference of the beltlines between the two. The closed car beltline has 2 beltlines-the thin lower beltline is seperate from the beltline that is under the windshield posts. The roadster does not have the thin beltline at all But dimensionally they are the same though. Kind of hard to explain, but easy to see looking at the pictures
things that have been done since last pics and thanks for all the info from other board members. channeled the body 4", zed brookville frame 8", replaced all bottom patch panels, new cowls from carisle swap meet , new subrails that i cut away most of what i bought to channel the body (snyders) new cowl top swap meet, redrilled 55 chevy axle to fit 4.5 bolt circle will have new pics soon
Well the weather was nice in Philly today.T-shirts in february?Global warming I guess.Since the sun was out I figured I would let the coupe see daylight again,Its been a year and a half since I put it in the garage to work on it. The winter has let me get alot done.Finished the metal work on the floor,ALOT of bodywork, atleast its straight now.Tore all the wood out and replaced it.Painted the floors, firewall, steering and suspension white,And the motor and trans cinder red.Put some 180# coilovers in,Cut in some taillights and drilled the visor to match the axle. Now that I got it outside I got all excited and wanted to hear it make some noise.I started robbing parts off my 55,Stole the carb started making a gastank out of a milk jug(real safe I know) found a junk fuel pump on the shelf, made a ignition switch setup with some wire. And then I borrowed the battery out of my dads 37. JUst as I suspected it was LOUD BIG thanks to my father for doing the honors so I could arm myself with the fire exstinguiser and camera.
