Anybody have any links or sites to early paintcodes for 50's and 60's cars? just doing some research. I came across this site..... http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ And this joint is cool for Candies,Pearls and flake..... http://www.paintwithpearl.com/index.htm Anybody got anything else?
Hi Jeff, The http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ is the best I have found other than buying the old paint chip pages. I have a few of these pages, on the back of some of the pages it gives you the two tone combinations information. I am trying to find a master paint book for my collection. Sean
Well.....I thought it may be a Mopar from the 50's or early 60's....... but I don't really know....I am trying to find that color...It was stated in the HRM article about my truck in 61. but ya know...could be just editorial ********.
ok...I have another question....IF I get the proper code....I guess it is possible to get a small amout mixed and sprayed to see If I even like it....right?
that was used on 1951-53 ford cars..70358 most likely have to call PPG's color library to see if there is a "prophet code" which is basically a code that is very close to it....good luck. SLF

Go to PPG.com and look up a dealer nearest you. Give them the PPG code these guys have listed and ask for a pint on OMNI (PPG's shop line). It's cheap and will give you an idea of the color, sprayed. Hopefully they have all the toners and tints necessary to mix it and don't give you a blank stare when you ask for it.
HOT DAMN.....YOU FELLAS ARE THE KATS MEAOW Many thanks!!!! I guess I did not search deep enuff....thanks very much guys!!!

One other thing....I have a bunch of old Dupont, and PPG charts. Often the name of the color is very different for the same color, same code, same year, with the different manufacturers. Don't go by name alone!
I have chips that go back to the 40's and they are right, Chev, Buick, olds can use the same color and call it a different name, so code helps. Don
Another source: http://www.performancecoatings.dupo...c/common/Controller/InnerAction!visitorAction Open the above page and then click the bubble up top that says color, then on the left of the page that comes up click "color chip library - historical" then click "Dupont Refinsh" and then when that page loads click the link in the center that says "Launch the Dupont Refinish Historical Color Chip Library". Pain in the *** I know, but I can't seem to post a direct link that works. They have scans of color chips going back to 1930 for most domestic cars. You can also e-mail them for specific info.
