Well - it's been a few years...but thanks to the HAMB w/ it's great members and their advice, and abundance of posts to use for reference, the Merc is now displaying the style that she best represents - Bellflower...or at least my version of it! Some of you may recall the before pic as there was discussion re: plans for the car hear on the board. Here's the before.... Here's now! Painted it HOK Goldmine pearl...and flaked/candied the roof. New wheels w/ double whites...stock wheels were 14's....but bumped it up to 15's and some meatier tires. I think the proportions look better now. Inside, I flaked the dash, had some garnish moldings and the speaker grille chromed, and recovered the stock seats in off white w/ gold piping from EZ Boy interiors. Sorry...no interior pics to share.

If you get around to taking interior pics, post em up. I, too, am intrigured by the affordable stuff by EZ Boy...
Looks nice, I love the roof line on the Monterey. I too would like to see the interior if you get some pics.
Outstanding! Beautiful Merc! I too would like to see some interior shots, and hear your opinions on EZ Boy's stuff... seems like a big complicated interior like yours would be an interesting test for their patterns...
All I can say is WOW! I love it. I have a '64! I have this pic in my archives and at first I thought it was yours but this one is a 4 door. Figured you'd like to see it. Seeing yours makes me want to shave my door handles!
Thanks for the comments. That 4 door Merc is nice!! Snapped some pics of the interior. As far as the EZ boy stuff goes...I purchased the seat material only from them and some extra material for the door panels. Seat pieces were reasonably priced but the door panels w/ pleats, etc. seemed overpriced. I worked w/ Joel...think he's the main man. I described the car...sent some color samples of the exterior, and he sent various swatched of material and piping. Went w/ an off white...w/ this clear piping that has gold tinsel inside. Cool stuff. The quality of the seat covers is top notch...and they fit like a glove. Pleats are also all sewn...not heat pressed. I had never used any hog rings/pliers before....but pretty easy to do. Broke the pliers that came w/ the order...but got a good set at the local hardware store to finish the job up. I'd recommend to anyone interested in the do-it-yourself route. Would have loved to had a custom interior done up...but I don't have much coin into the car.....and a few grand on an interior just wasn't in the budget.
nice work dude!!! ever take a look at the Los Boulevardos website? http://www.losboulevardos.com/main.html they would definitly be interested in your car..and here is a few pictures i snapped up on my camera phone about a year ago of that 4 door mercury. did you guys see the work done to the roof??
An over looked car with a heap of cl***, '63 Mercs will have their day. Your well ahead of the herd! Swell rendition too! A mate just sold his '63 an' what a sweet ride it was. Some hot poke from the 390 an' a 'ginchy' electric rear window just adds charm an' real character to these 'Breeze-aways'. Enjoy!
before I clicked on this, I was trying to picture your version of "done" as flat black, some red wheels and mexican blankets...but I clicked anyways....I'm glad I did. Looks beautiful man! Nice choice of colors also. great job! speedy
Nice ride man. I dig it check this link out. Its a 63 merc lowrider hopping This is part 2, but there are 6 videos http://youtube.com/watch?v=1R3qHGzaHHE
My dad roller one of those when he was 17, haha. It was my grandfathers car. A **** brown 4dr. The only thing from the car that survived was the roll down back window. My dad was in a coma for a week. Dave
It's the ****, you'll be attracting a lot of women with that, you can pile 'em up on the back seat. Your car rules.
Wow that came out beautiful. I love seeing "non mainstream" cars done up in a 60's style. Come over to the LBCC site man! http://www.losboulevardos.com/phpBB2/index.php
Everything about it is right on purrr-fect! Color is really nice. Even the seat covers. Lots of guys usta install their own "seat covers" Or get "Rayco" covers installed at the Shop next door to Sears on Long Beach Blvd and those are definitely the "Deluxe re-upjolstery kit"
thanks for the interior shots. That sold me on a set of seat upholstery from them....if I can ever get them on the phone.
