I like this in a wierd kind of way. I'd like to see more pics if anyone has anything. You can post them here or email me direct. Thanks, Mike
Yeah, here's a few pics I took of it. I like the scallop shaped firewall. It needs a grill to cover up that bare radiator. A friend of mine thought that the center "horse-collar" shape of an Edsel grill would make a good grill for it.
I've been contemplating something simialar with the remains of a rusty '55 Chevy, was inspired by the Lunar Lander(Plowboy), but the front is the part I can't visualize. My thoughts being the hole thing should use '55 cues, like a stock smallblock complete with Chevy script valve covers, column shift 3-speed, '55 dash(narrowed), use the dip about where the arm would rest, take the front fenders and use the headlight crown and fit the parking lights up where the headlights were and that would be the leading edge of the cowl, but I can't figure out the grille. Any ideas?
These cut down full size bodies have been done for years, there are several around using 59 Olds tails, 59 BUick tails, 60 Chevy tails, and now this Tempest tail. It makes for an interesting and sometimes good looking car if the nose treatment is as slick as the tailend. Edsel grilles don't even make good grilles for Edsels.
marty with the last originals built this out of a 61 tempest body. it has a early ford front, i think the pontiac rear (might be chevy) and 383 or 440 power. he built this in about 6 months. i can't seem to upload the pictures i have of it. let me know and i will send you some construction photos. it did have a crazy grill made with leftover body parts and 67 gto headlights. i have to figure out why he took it off. and i agree edsel horse collars do not look good on anything!
