[IMG]Help!!!!! Im ready to mount my axle brackets and noticed my notch tilts forward a bit. Do I match the same angle on the axle brackets with the upper brackets or do I set them level on the axle or does it matter?? (Hope that makes sense!) Thanks!!

  2. I would say that you want the bag to be mounted parallel to the axle's vertical travel. That way the bag is being compressed as it was designed to be. Good luck.

from the pic, it looks like your upper and lower bars are at different angles from each other-- or is the pic angle fooling my eyes? if at different angles, i would think you'd get a more drastic change of pinion angle, and maybe quicker bind?

Set the bag perfectly inline at ride height(plumb and level with the frame), and for godsake, Gusset the crap out of those 2" sqaure tubing brackets holding the lower link bars!

  9. Your axle needs at least 3" of travel at your chosen ride height. With that said, set your bag brackets (upper and lower) as level as possible with each other and you should have no problems. Heavy tack them in and cycle the rear axle through it's travel (with no air in the bags) to watch it's movement and adjust it as needed. When you think all is well, weld it solid and run the same cycle with the bags loaded and watch for problems. Then you should be set!

P.S. I'm glad that was an old pic.........

I believe you want the second option. If the notch leans forward, and axle hits the side of the notch instead of the upper bar then I believe a re-do is in order. If I read your post right, you were asking if the bags could be mounted in an angle to compensate the lean of the notch.

Textbook way or popular way would be mounting bags even with the axle for air to be let out as gravity does the rest.

I would think a subtle angle would not matter but you compensate needed travel more it's angled. hope this makes sense. I just got mine back from a local BAG shop and this has been my observation with mine and from seeing other cars. I attached pic. hope this helps.

The notch on my 50 is similar to yours but it leans back a little. I welded up the upper brackets in line with the angle of the upper notch. Then I losely set the lower brackets on the axle and cycled it up and down, finding the best angle that resulted in the least amount of sideways shearing of the bags.
