Thanks much Crease ! I was hoping for this kind of reply. Those seals are available for Shoebox Fords just like you mention and '52-'54! Mercs as well and I was wondering if they are interchangeable but it doesn't look so.But please measure them anyway if you get them, would be appreciated !

Shoebox Lower outer seals are 3/4" ID, 1-3/8" OD and are 3/8" thick. Hope that helps a little

    the ford stuff is different.

I got all my seals, upper a-arms both kingpin (outers) and frame (inner) from carpenters. As well as my lowers. Something like 4 bucks a piece I think.

    AND

THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE ****!

btw - does anyone know what torque the knuckle pins need to be on the spindles? Other than just Really tight??

Thanks ! I still have to measure them but 3/4" ID seems to be too small and tokyo also says they're different. All catalogs of major Ford and Mercury part suppliers list them seperately too and there must be a reason.

still no luck aa? geeze yr gonna have to go buy a parts car just to get the seals!! which ones you lookin for? the 3074, 3088,3075,or 3076's? i know when i bought a replacement shaft i asked for the new boot seals from C&G but it wasnt a boot , it was just a cheesy little rubber washer about 1/4" thick , like what it is showing in the picture 3088. i ended up using my old ripped ones. ill keep looking for ya.

Thanks Jim,but that kit fits Fords only. All parts marked with * also fit Mercurys.

What really bothers me is I already ordered the lower, outer ones BEFORE I ripped mine apart...but it turned out they only had the inners ones, that's what I received...company said something like "...inner,outer,upper and lower ones...that's all so confusing..." and yes,it was a girl but no names here...

I use slices of heater hose or fuel hose big enough to slip over the pin.

Suspension parts for a 49-51 Merc I don't see listed are:
Front spring isolators, top or bottom , a-arm / control arm bumpers , top or bottom , rear brake hoses , or swaybar bushings .
Jamco might have some of it , I sent them a Email . I think Ford bumpers will work on the control arms ??

I bought all the rubbers for my '51 Ford from Carpenters. They are made in China and are 'way too thick. I ended up turfing most of them and buying "O" rings to keep the dirt out. I used two on each side instead of one rubber.
