Looking to french the headlights on my 1949 Ford Shoebox and add some depth. I was wondering if anyone has welded the 52-'54 Mercury Headlight Rims & Bezels and use the Custom Beams Frenched Headlight Kit? Is it possible?

if you go back and check other threads about night prowler kits, they seem to be top of the line.

  4. I bought the full bucket kit from Night Prowlers and intalled them in my fifty Buick. They are simply the best I've ever done you just have to start at the top and go slow spot welding them in. The process was not bad at all, just follow the instructions. They look right and I have had some nice comments as to the old school look. Rags

I'm with chopolds and just use the Merc rings.

  6. I personally don't care for the chrome Cordoba style ring, like 'em better without. My only *****.

If you buy the merc rims and bezels (like I did), you don't need the kit - just mount your original Ford headlight buckets from the inside of the fender before welding the rims to your fenders.

I just used the merc rings and used the original ford buckets mounted inside the fenders, worked perfectly.

I really appreciate everyone's response. If it isn't too much to ask and you have pictures can you post them?

I have pics somewhere. Cut them down alittle to avoid the bugeye look IMO. I didnt (dont think I did) flip the bucket to the back, instead I didnt use the clips to retain the trim ring, I used windshield urethane to hold it in...so just some even pulling on the trim ring brought it out and you could change a bulb from the outside of the car.

I also used the Merc rims with the Ford buckets mounted on the rear of the fender flange - works great (actually, done it on a 51 Merc and a 53 Ford also...). Car in the avatar is one of them - I'll attach a few more shots... Good luck !!
