I've read through the discussion on the Hot Hues and on the Hot Rod Flatz posted here, but was curious how they stacked up against each other? I'm not looking for the cheapest route, but looking for quality and durability.

Hot Hues is the only way I would go.

If I was painting a tractor I might use Blitz. Sorry I am just not a fan of cheap paint. You get what you pay for in my opinion.

I have not used Hot Rod Flatz but I did use the Hot Hues and it has held up nicely in an engine bay. It uses a hardner and reducer. If HR Flatz is a 2K product then it's probably okay too.

I am with you on that... I do think you get what you pay for and not looking to drive around with some cheap paint job.

Brick - All the HR Flatz Web site says it is a fast drying two component chemical resistant urethane finish.

  8. A couple of other choices to confuse you even more:

SEM Hotrod black and Kirker Hotrod black

Hot rod flatz is some good stuff. Very easy to spray and very durable. I'd use it again on my next project.

i sprayed the hotrod flatz, it seemed to dry before i got the whole car sprayed. i think i got the wrong temp of hardener. HRF has a hardener and also comes with reducer but you dont have to reduce it. i felt it sprayed better w/o the reducer. i still preffer ace harware's XO Rust more than anything. you dont have to prep for it, comes in any color, and holds up 10 times better than primers too. sprayes the easiest out of all too.
