Heres sone pics as of tonight.....got the air suspension working correctly and all the geometry correct. It will go from about 5" off the ground to laying frame front to back. The 454 is stuffed in, and all that is needed now is radiator, finish welding, wiring and a driveline. Its officially a roller. I'll have it at the Hot Rod Revoloution on saturday if y'all wanna check it out in person
Great looking truck. Good vision. I like it. I never liked the looks of the stock versions but this thing really looks good.
Ya...it was definitely an ugly truck. I found it under an oak tree where it had been stripped of its drivetrain, and parked shortly after ww2. The only thing holding it together in alot of places was rust and hornets nests. I actually gave it a shot to fix up as it was....but it was junk. The frame was actually rotted through in some spots. In a shaded wet place for a LONG time is bad news for old tin. This truck has seen service with the USNY and the USAF CAP in ww2. The current markings are the latter. Its nice to breathe life into an old forgotten war veteran. here it is as I found it......I used all the front sheetmetal for a 40 panel.
The truck is BAMF!!! nice work. Are yourunning air bags in the front too? if so can i have some pics. i want my next project to lay frame with a solid axl but i need some ground clearance for potholes when i drive. i have not come up with any ideas and i do not want IFS. thanks
Nice ride, you do really good work. I'm interested in the same front end setup for my coupe, would you mind posting detailed pics of how the bags are setup in relation to the front axle? And I'm assuming there's a panard bar to prevent lateral movement? You did a good job. Thanks, Gary
This gives me some ideas - nice work. Very inspirational. I found a guy who's trying to sell a 38 ford p/u in pieces, rough pieces, including a couple flatheads and a transmission for $1000 bucks. Aside from the "Limelight" I've never seen a 38 Ford p/u that gets me excited, but I think with a treatment similar to what you've pulled off above, I could fall in love. Again, nice work.
