Another *****in show this week guys...all the pinstripers are a real inspiration to me. Rollie, Ray, 2Tall incredible...Mask I'm really digging the skulls in the background.

Coop....good to see you posting on the HAMB the last few weeks...always dig yer stuff.

Hey philo...I got a red and white 56 4 door...so I'm lovin yer nomad...is it for sale or maybe a trade?

This is all I have to share this week. It's nothing fancy as far as the striping goes but it was still a lot of fun.

Enjoy, some of you may have not seen this before, it's old stuff. :D Keep it going:D I had another new drawing, but I ain't got enough hours in the day this week.Everybody...keep on keepin on....

Somewhere between two weeks and a month, depending on how lazy I am at the time. That doesn't count the prep time involved in drawing the preliminary drawings and planning out the whole thing.

This one took almost a year:

This is a 24-foot section of the completed 78-foot long painting!

The "DORF" van I posted this week was a**** the first drawings I'd done using Prisma colors. I'm thinking about posting others in the future.

Customcory made this coat rack back in the late 80's. Now it sits on the wall at my back door and holds all the utensils I need to ward off the rac****s that come around at night.

  24. Coop,
on your large paintings, why do you always lay blue down before you go over it with black?
    I'm curious:)
    thanks,

I do the underpainting in ultramarine blue first as a guide to lay in all the areas of color, then lay the black line on top of that. The ivory black is a little brown when you lay it down on white, but over the dark blue it has a richer more solid look on the canvas.

Quite a few times I do an underpainting so that in a few spots the underpainting color peeks through. This helps when using black and keeps the black color from looking so dull. I never use an actual black as I always mix in a color of some kind. As Coop said it gives a richer look. A for instance when painting on a background that is not white I will do an underpainting of white to make the colors pop more or they wind up looking very dull in color.
