I have a chance to buy a running 4bbl 425 nailhead out of a 66 wildcat. I can pick it up with the******* for $500. A bit more than I wanted to spend but what a beast. Can you guys give me some specs as to horse power, torque and weight.

Also the same spec sfor a 65 401 would be great.

    Thanks

I'd say $500 is a really good price...and go for it..!!

I sold a questionable 425, which turned out to be just fine,
to a friend of mine for $500 about 4 or 5 years ago...

Thanks for the links - still cant find any numbers - I heard maybe 360 hp and 420 on the torque side. Looks like I should just quit whining and go get it!

  8. $500 is a really great price. I picked up a '66 Riv for 750 with the 425 and threw the rest away. I've seen them go for as high as $1200!

  9. Ya know Brett,

I realize we haven't met in person yet, but my birthday is coming up, in September.. [IMG]

That sounds about right for a 425. It might be more like 375 and 460 though depending. Either way it's a helluva deal.

  11. Come on guys! IT's on the Aircleaner.
The 425 has 465 lbft of Torque.
    The 401 has 445.
340 HP for the 425 and 320HP for the 401.
Advertised HP of course....your results may vary.
Just buy the damn thing before I come up there and steal it away from you.
