other than hot heads dose anyone know of someone making trans adaptors for hemi to late model trans thanks Tom
i have been told a few problems with starters when you use hot heads don't know for sure just what i have been told by 3 guys that have used them had to grind them for starter to fit and work right
I've tried a mini-torque and a stock starter on hot heads, and they both work fine. I chose the passenger side starter location so it would make steering link easier. A friend welded in a plate to block dirt around the starter hole. The mini-torque is kinda D-shaped, and there's a gap. Trouble is when I put a stock starter in (had some early problems with mini-torque now solved) it is more round, so knocked the welded part out. Best be ready for the side of the road repairs. The hot heads adaptor is pretty generic. We used a band-saw and grinder after marking the block and transmission pattern onto it. Looks better now. I had a hell of a time with hot heads adaptor until I figured out that they sold me a chrysler crankshaft indexer instead of a chevy like I wanted. If the starter doesn't mesh, you got the wrong indexer :-(
Uh....Hot Heads gets their adapters from Wilcap...I know, as I had to wait about 5 months for one...from Wilcap, ordered from Hot Heads.
Here is a technical post that I did on a 392 Hemi with a Tremec 5 speed. I worked with Pat at Wilcap on it . . . because I wanted to use a Sonic bellhousing. Anyway - check it out, lots of information and pictures. Dale http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=107758
