i heard somewher (can't remember who from now) that it was easy to put one of the baby hemi's in in place of a stock flathead. is this true or was the person i heard this from blowing smoke? a little info about the car, it's got a 230, three on the tree all stock. i was told it would bolt up to the three speed perfectly. the hemi i have in mind is the 291? let me know fellas i'd appreciate it.

The reasons early 50's plymouths didn't have a Hemi option, was that the steering box was mounted on the inside of the frame. De Soto, Dodge and Chrysler had the box mounted on the outside. That is the only real problem with
the install. The trans should bolt right up if you have the Hemi bellhousing.
Do a search on it. I know it has been talked about on here before.
