    HMMMM.....Talk about road kill!!!!!!

  5. Some buddies of mine were cruising around drunk one time shooting road signs and mailboxes until the gun went off through the floor and blew the right front tire off......long sobering walk home.

Back in the sixtys it was common for the farmers in this area to pay a bounty on hawks,,,,It was not against the law to kill them at that time.

We were out on a saturday riding up and down rural dirt roads in a friends dads 51 merc with a shot gun and had just scored our 2 hawk and was getting ready for number 3 when Mike reached for the shotgun and we heard a blast come from the back seat,,,,Man was it loud!

Thank God no one was hurt,,,well our ears sure rang for a while,,,,but the poor merc had a good size hole almost dead center in the roof,,,man,we were in deep S#it!

We figured if we went to the five and dime and got some green hobby paint and some chewing gum we could patch it up,,,,it sorta worked,,,,but in our hast to repair the outside damage we forgot about the headliner,,,,,

As I recall,,the 3 of us ate dinner that night standing up,,,,here in the south the punishment in those days was swift and unmerciful,,,it also included the use of a belt!,,,

BTW,,,the money we recieved and the money we made picking up bottles helped pay for the damage.HRP

Moral of the story,,,don't borrow a parents car if you are gonna ride around with a loaded shotgun. HRP

When you're hunting it's fairly common to see a really big buck on the road as you're leaving empty-handed, Murphy's Law at work, I suppose. Anyway, it's illegal to hunt from a car, it's poaching, but I'm sure he just couldn't resist temptation...
