How much is a 49 Lincoln 337 motor and trans worth? It's the bigger truck flathead. Was in a desert car. Don't know if it runs. But the car it's out of has almost no rust at all. All parts are with it. 49 Lincoln
Maybe you could talk to this guy ... http://webpages.charter.net/w01845730/pictures/lincolnflattyefi.JPG
Some may laugh at them but I remember my Uncle's Lincoln flathead with an overdrive and it kicked ass big time even in the heavy body. If I come across one I will nab it. Vergil
Pretty funny that everyone says they are worthless. I put a free 337 with trans up on the for sale board and got over 20 private messages from people wanting it. (?). 49lincoln
worthless means that its worth nothing... your transmission was FREE... so, you pretty much summed it, it is WORTHLESS... or worth nothing, zip, zilch, ZERO. im sure there were more than a few usable parts in that transmission, free is always a good price. as an aside, the comments iam reading were aimed at the 337 flathead... it is a boat anchor but there are people who would be into it, albeit for next to nothing. my experience with the merc/lincoln 3spd OD's is that they are worth $100 - $200 in used, working condition. rebuilt you might be able get up to $500.00
I don't disagree about the motor and trans. I know the high expense of a standard flathead. And the non-existent parts for the bigger truck flathead. That was why I pulled it out in the first place. I was just surprised that so many people wanted it. I had over 20 private messages within just a few hours of posting. And those were just folks within driving distance. Thought maybe there was some parts exchange I wasn't aware of. Or that the tranny had some value. For $200 I'd rather just get it out of my garage. The thing is the size of a winnebago! and weighs about the same. Thanks. 49
True, parts are hard to find and speed equipment rare, but this is a great engine combo with overdrive and was a great performer in my old 46 lincoln coupe. I would buy in a minute if it was close. 100 extra cubic inches with an extra few pounds. Lots of torque.
